Skills Required:

Additional Requirements:
  • Age 30 to 40 years
  • Minimum 6–10 years in structural/civil engineering roles, with at least 3 years focused on industrial or factory building assessment, preferably in the RMG or manufacturing sector.

  • Strong working knowledge of the Bangladesh National Building Code (BNBC), RSC/Accord structural standards, and DIFE requirements.

  • Membership with the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) preferred.



Responsibilities & Context:

Structural Safety & Integrity

  • Lead periodic structural assessments and integrity audits of factory buildings, floors, columns, and load-bearing elements in coordination with certified structural engineers/consultants.

  • Monitor structural load limits against actual machinery, storage, and occupancy loads; flag and prevent overloading of any floor or section.

  • Identify structural risks (cracks, settlement, corrosion, deflection) through regular inspections and initiate timely remediation.

  • Maintain up-to-date structural drawings, design load documentation, and as-built records for all factory buildings.

Compliance & Remediation Management

  • Ensure compliance with the Bangladesh National Building Code (BNBC), local Building Construction Rules, and applicable factory/fire licensing requirements.

  • Manage and track Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) arising from RSC (RMG Sustainability Council), Accord/Alliance-legacy, DIFE, or buyer structural audits through to closure.

  • Coordinate with external certified engineers/firms for detailed engineering assessments (DEAs) and follow-up inspections where required.

  • Liaise with RAJUK/local authorities and regulatory bodies on building approvals, occupancy certificates, and structural compliance matters.

New Construction & Modification Oversight

  • Review and approve structural aspects of any new construction, floor addition, or renovation to ensure design compliance and safety before execution.

  • Vet contractor/consultant structural designs and supervise construction quality to specification.

  • Ensure any change in building use, machinery layout, or floor loading is structurally assessed and approved before implementation.

Emergency Preparedness & Risk Management

  • .Support the factory's emergency response plan with structural risk inputs (evacuation routes, structurally safe zones).

  • Lead post-incident structural assessments in the event of damage (fire, flood, earthquake impact) and coordinate immediate safety measures.

  • Maintain a structural risk register and escalate high-risk findings to senior management immediately

Reporting & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Prepare structural safety reports and dashboards for factory and corporate management, and for buyer/certification audits.

  • Coordinate with Production, Admin, and HSE teams to align structural safety with day-to-day operations.

  • Train relevant staff and floor supervisors on structural safety awareness, load limits, and reporting procedures.
