∎ Enrolled with the Bangladesh Bar Council as an Advocate, with at least 3 years of practical experience in local courts.
∎ Strong knowledge of labour, criminal, and family laws.
∎ Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with diverse colleagues.
∎ Proficient communication skills, with drafting and report writing capabilities in Bangla and English.
∎ Knowledgeable in computer operations, particularly in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as email communication.

Responsibilities & Context:
∎ To interview the clients and record their application.
∎ Conduct Legal awareness sessions among RMG and/or leather goods workers.
∎ Conduct Legal Aid Clinics/Camps in the Factory areas.
∎ Visit the field/office and provide advice to the workers.
∎ Check and maintain files, registers, and case diaries regarding cases as per guidelines.
∎ Scrutinize the case paper and analyze the merit of the case and as per the guidelines.
∎ Appear before the court as required, particularly in labour cases.
∎ Conduct mediation meetings as and when necessary.
∎ Issue letters regarding the cases to the panel lawyers.
∎ Prepare and examine the legal service bill as per the guidelines.
∎ Maintain regular contact with beneficiaries.
∎ Maintain records of engaged panel lawyers.
∎ Prepare monthly/quarterly/half-yearly/yearly legal statements/reports regarding applications received, mediation, litigation, and case studies as per guidelines.
∎ Preserve case files and related records both offline and online.
∎ To conduct/organize/attend meetings, workshops, seminars, and training courses.
∎ To perform all other duties as and when required by the authority.
∎ Job Context: BLAST is seeking a Staff Lawyer for the Gazipur District. The project aims for the Staff Lawyer to be responsible for client intake, providing legal advice, referral, mediation, and litigation services in Subordinate Courts and Labour Courts to BLAST’s clients, in particular, workers following BLAST’s policies and guidelines, and communicating with clients and Panel Lawyers accordingly. This position is supported by the Promoting Labour Standards for Ensuring Workers' Rights (PLS) project.
