Samaj Kalyan O Unnayan Shangstha (SKUS) envisions a peaceful, prosperous, and poverty-free society that ensures everyone's basic needs and rights. SKUS has, since the 2017 Rohingya refugee influx, worked in Cox's Bazar district with children, adolescents, women, and men.
SKUS is seeking a motivated and technically skilled Skill Development Trainer – Industrial Sewing Machine Operation to provide vocational/formal training for women and girls from both the host community and the Rohingya refugee camps. The trainer will support participants in developing technical tailoring skills, income-generating opportunities, and life skills while ensuring quality training delivery and community engagement.
Duration of contract: Up to 31 December 2026. (Contingent on Donor Extension and government approval).
Key Responsibilities
Conduct engaging and practical training sessions on tailoring and dressmaking, including:
Develop training modules, lesson plans, demonstrations, and participant practice sessions.
Pattern making
Cutting
Stitching
Garment construction
Finishing techniques
Sewing machine operation
Ensure training sessions are participatory, learner-friendly, and adapted to participants’ needs.
Form and manage training groups from host communities and the Rohingya refugee camps.
Provide life skills guidance, counseling, and motivational support to trainees.
Conduct home visits and maintain communication with participants and their families to ensure participation and inclusivity.
Prepare requisitions for raw materials, tools, and equipment required for training activities.
Maintain and manage sewing machines, training equipment, and inventory properly.
Support trainees in developing tailoring and handicraft products for market linkage and income generation.
Identify local market opportunities and support participants with product pricing and sales strategies.
Facilitate workshops, mentoring sessions, and capacity-building activities.
Maintain attendance records, participant progress tracking, and stipend/wage distribution as per project guidelines.
Prepare regular reports, success stories, training updates, and documentation of lessons learned.
Coordinate with community leaders, project staff, and stakeholders for smooth implementation of activities.
Ensure gender sensitivity, safeguarding, inclusivity, and humanitarian principles in all project activities.
Reporting:
The Skill Development Trainer will report on the training update, learners’ profiles, use of relevant inventory and stock, learners’ feedback, best practices, and success stories directly to the Livelihood training & production coordinator
