Experience:
LLM or Post Graduation or equivalent degree in any relevant subject from any UGC approved reputed University and institution
• Knowledge on national and international laws and policies applicable to refugees
• Knowledge and skill on legal practices in national courts
• Proven skills and competencies to work with MS Office and data analysis and presentation packages.
• Experience in documentation support functions, such as referencing and terminology, editing and handling of official documentation is an asset.
• Excellent communication and articulation skills, awareness of socio-economic, cultural and political sensitivities.
• Effective communication, report writing and presentation for external and internal audiences.
• Understanding in evidence-based behavior change practices.
• Fluency on written in English is a must.
• Drafting and reporting skills, accuracy in document production and editing
• Fluency in English and Bangla languages including Chittagonian dialect. Excellent English drafting and reporting skills are required.
• Enrollment under Bangladesh Bar Council
Provide response and prevention services to ensure access to justice through direct interventions impacting the lives of women, girls, men and boys, diversified gender and mainstreaming in other response programming and operational areas for ensuring access to justice through providing legal assistance.
Programming
Coordinate with supervisor to ensure timely, quality legal services per BRAC/UNHCR guidelines
Provide legal counseling and support to PoCs
Conduct awareness sessions for refugees, leaders, and PSNs
Support PoCs at police stations/courts as needed
Facilitate mediation, maintain records, ensure follow-up
Visit detention centers, advocate for release
Assist PoCs with FIRs, GDs, legal complaints
Arrange prison visits for refugee family members
Collaborate with police on trafficking/smuggling cases
Train and mentor Associate Legal Officers and paralegals
Liaise with authorities and partners for legal access
Attend protection/coordination meetings
Analyze cases, gather evidence, draft legal opinions
Engage stakeholders (CiCs, APBn, Majhees)
Represent clients as per supervisor guidance
Perform admin and other duties as assigned
Grant Management and Reporting
Prepare and submit legal reports/work plans (monthly, quarterly, yearly)
Ensure timely internal and donor reporting
Staff Management and Development
Foster professional, supportive team environment
Provide feedback, coaching, and mentoring to staff
Build capacity of legal team and volunteers
Coordination
Collaborate with Project Manager and legal team
Coordinate with BRAC departments and external partners

Safeguarding
Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
