• Minimum 7 years’ experience in environmental management, compliance, or sustainability in the textile/apparel manufacturing industry.

• Strong understanding of environmental audit processes, legal compliance, and buyer sustainability requirements.

• Ability to work cross-functionally with multiple teams and external stakeholders.

• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to interact and build relationships and work as a team.

• Should be well-groomed, smart, and energetic.

• Strong presentation and delivery skills

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy, aiming for perfection.

• Excellent written and verbal communication both in Bangla and English

• IT proficiency - advance level skill is a MUST in MS Office package (Especially PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook)

Job Context

• The Senior Environment Specialist holds the accountability for identifying, developing, and implementing long-term sustainability & compliance initiatives and objectives, in alignment with the company’s vision. The incumbent is also responsible for educating the team and affiliation of ZXY on the importance and effectiveness of compliance activities and ensuring adherence to all local laws and industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor the company’s environmental management system (EMS) and Chemical Management System (CMS) in line with national regulations and ZDHC guidelines.

• Conduct regular environmental impact assessments (EIA) and risk analyses to identify opportunities for improvement.

• Ensure compliance with environmental laws, regulations, and buyer standards (e.g., ZDHC, Higg FEM, ISO 14001, etc.).

• Coordinate waste management, water, and energy efficiency programs, promoting sustainable resource use across operations.

• Support implementation of factory-level environmental action plans and monitor progress through data collection and reporting.

• Lead initiatives to reduce carbon footprint and promote circular economy practices, such as material recycling, waste segregation, and eco-design.

• Prepare and maintain accurate environmental performance records and reports for internal and external audits.

• Provide training and awareness programs to employees and suppliers on environmental and sustainability topics.

• Collaborate with compliance, sustainability, and technical teams to achieve corporate sustainability goals

• Liaise with buyers, consultants, and certification bodies to ensure smooth audits and verifications.

Factory Assessment & Development Responsibilities:

• Conduct initial environmental assessments for new and existing factories to identify strengths, gaps, and risk areas.

• Support factories in developing improvement roadmaps toward meeting ZXY and buyer environmental compliance expectations.

• Provide technical guidance to factories for infrastructure and system upgrades related to wastewater, ETP, energy optimization, and waste reduction.

• Monitor progress and ensure continuous development toward achieving higher sustainability ratings (e.g., Higg FEM performance level upgrades).

• Collaborate with the compliance and sustainability teams to evaluate factory readiness during onboarding and re-evaluation processes.

• Promote and mentor factories on adopting circular practices, such as recycling, material recovery, and eco-friendly process improvement.
