IID works across areas including education, governance, youth engagement, data, and social development through research, innovation, and implementation.

Position Overview

IID is seeking a committed and capable Research Associate to support and lead research and implementation activities across education-related initiatives, including foundational learning assessments, Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL), socio-emotional learning, data analysis, and field and desk research.

The Research Associate will contribute to both technical and operational functions, including research design, field execution, team coordination, project implementation, reporting, and other cross-functional responsibilities as required.

Key Responsibilities

The Research Associate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

Research and Technical Support

• Conduct desk research, literature reviews, policy reviews, and background analysis for projects and proposals.

• Support the design and implementation of education, inclusion and policy focused research and assessment activities, including foundational learning and socio-emotional learning initiatives.

• Contribute to research tools, field plans, data collection frameworks, and analytical outputs.

• Analyze the data and prepare summaries, insights, presentations, and reports.

• Draft research reports, concept notes, briefs, presentations, and other knowledge products in English.

Field Research and Project Implementation

• Lead and coordinate field research activities, including planning, logistics, supervision, and monitoring of enumerators or field teams.

• Support implementation of project activities in the field, ensuring quality, timeliness, and compliance with project objectives.

• Travel to project locations across Bangladesh when needed.

• Maintain coordination with internal teams, consultants, partners, and stakeholders during fieldwork and implementation.

Team Coordination and Leadership

• Provide day-to-day technical and operational support to project teams.

• Lead assigned tasks and small teams under broader project supervision.

• Ensure timely follow-up on deliverables, team coordination, and internal communication.

Administrative and Cross-functional Support

• Support project-related procurement, documentation, coordination, and other operational tasks when required.

• Assist in maintaining project records, trackers, and reporting documentation.

• Undertake other relevant responsibilities assigned by the organization in line with project and institutional needs.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s & Masters degree in education, IER, Development Studies, or any other relevant discipline. Candidates from other academic backgrounds are also encouraged to apply if they have relevant experience and skills.

• At least 2 years of relevant professional experience in research, field implementation, education programming, data analysis, or related areas.

Required Competencies and Skills

• Strong research and analytical skills.

• Experience in desk research and field research.

• Strong report writing and documentation skills in English.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and work across both technical and operational areas.

• Experience in project implementation and coordination.

• Proficiency in common software and digital tools, including Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

• Familiarity with data analysis tools and platforms will be considered an advantage.

• Strong communication skills in Bangla and English.

• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.

• Willingness to travel frequently to field locations across Bangladesh.
