Job Context:
∎ Position Summary: BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), based at BRAC University, seeks a Research Associate (RA) for the Women`s Economic Empowerment and Digital Finance (WEE-DiFine) initiative. The RA, under the supervision of the Initiative Director and a Research Fellow, will be responsible for handling the technical aspects of proposal review, communicating with leading academics and researchers, and supporting day-to-day activities of the initiative. The RA will also have the opportunity to engage in research work if they have the necessary skills. A successful candidate will have a strong background in economics, particularly in development economics, and knowledge of the frontier of causal inference. The RA opportunity will pave the way for a future career in academia, the private-sector, or the public-sector. Suitable candidates could be considered for a Senior Research Associate position.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Provide support to the development of documents and processes for soliciting research grant proposals
∎ Provide support as needed in proposal screening
∎ Manage the proposal external reviewing process
∎ Provide support in communicating with the ASC members about the initially selected proposals
∎ Facilitate technical communications with academics, research teams, and the ASC
∎ Provide support in organizing and managing external communication events (webinars, events, etc.)
∎ Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned
∎ Potential Additional Responsibilities (subject to meeting eligibility):
∎
∎ Work closely with senior researchers and support them in project development and in ongoing projects
∎ Assist in study design, instrument development, and quality assurance and monitoring of all aspects of fieldwork
∎ Assist in write-ups and delivery of reports/articles from analysis
∎ Organize seminars/workshops/conferences

∎ Ability to understand academic research and to analyse, interpret, and synthesize research findings
∎ Excellent communication skills, including clear and convincing technical English writing skills
∎ Skills in organizing high-profile events with international stakeholders
∎ Ability to multitask and successfully complete projects on tight deadlines independently
∎ Willingness to work hard, be self-motivated, learn, and adapt quickly
∎ Willingness to work with individuals located in different time zones
∎ Ability to understand and communicate how rigorous research can influence policy decisions
∎ Preferred:
∎ Strong data analysis skills, including data cleaning, management, and econometric analysis for impact evaluations
∎ Skills in developing research instruments (e.g. questionnaire) and coding for digitizing complex questionnaires
∎ Experience in data analysis software (preferably Stata)
∎ Working experience in research grant-making facilities
∎ Sound knowledge of the current scenario and major trends of empirical research in social science
