Educational Requirements:
∎ Bachelor's degree in a health discipline (medical, dental, pharmacy, nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy graduates) or other quantitative social science discipline supplemented by a Master's degree in public health or a closely related subject

Job Context:
∎ An International non-government, non-profit organization working in the health service sector of Bangladesh seeks to appoint two Research Associates for its research team. The organization provides therapeutic, preventative and educational programs to manage blindness and visual impairment across the developing world. It established six specialized eye hospitals and served more than 2.5 million patients since it started operations in Bangladesh in 1992. With several other projects under development, it aims now to become a national leader in vision health research.
∎ The Research Associates will be working on developing research protocol, creating data collection tools, collection and analysis of primary and secondary data for research and report and manuscript writing. They will present research findings in national and international meetings, seminars and conferences. Mentoring will be provided to develop skills in preparing and submitting research proposals for external funding. Based in the head office in Dhaka, they may need to occasionally make field visits for data collection. The successful candidates will work with a leading health researcher and have the opportunity to develop a track record to pursue higher study in a few years if they aim so.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Planning and managing day-to-day research activities from planning to implementation and monitoring to quality assurance
∎ Documenting all activities related to research projects
∎ Developing, translating and refining survey questionnaires
∎ Responsible for data collection and data-entry processes while ensuring good quality of the data
∎ Assisting in data cleaning and analysis
∎ Providing timely updates and responses to their team leader
∎ Interviewing staff, patients and stakeholders if required for research purpose
∎ Maintaining accurate records and safeguarding the confidentiality of research subjects
∎ Preparing progress and results reports and submitting on time

Additional Requirements:
∎ Communication Skills: Advanced English reading, writing, listening and presentation skills
∎ Other Skills: Familiarity with research methods and experience in data management, data cleaning, and basic statistical analysis; Must be proficient in MS package
∎ One year work experience is desired but not essential.
