Experience:
Master's degree in Psychology/Clinical Psychology/Counseling Psychology/ Educational Psychology from a recognized university.
Minimum 2 years of professional experience in counseling, mental health, psychosocial support, case management, or related fields.
Only female candidates of Cox's Bazar, Chattogram and Bandarban Districts districts are highly encouraged to apply
Experience working in humanitarian, disaster response, protection, GBV, child protection, refugee response, or community-based mental health programs will be highly preferred.
Experience in emergency response and working with vulnerable populations will be considered a strong advantage.
Strong knowledge of MHPSS, Psychological First Aid (PFA), psychosocial programming, and humanitarian principles.
Knowledge of protection mainstreaming, safeguarding, PSEA, and GBV referral mechanisms.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, facilitation, and active listening skills.
Ability to work under pressure in challenging field environments.
Proficiency in Bangla and good command of English.
Computer literacy, including MS Office applications and online reporting tools.
Context:
CWFD emerged from an emotional response to help women in need of reproductive health care counseling. The organization, originally named as “Concerned Women for Family Planning (CWFP), started its voluntary activities in 1974 to help the refugees coming to Dhaka city after the devastating famine of 1974. The organization was registered in 1975 with Directorate of Social welfare and formally launched its project activities in 1976 with only 5 female staff to cover an area of Dhaka city slum comprising around 50,000 people. Name of the Project: ‘Emergency Response for Flash Flood and Landslide Affected Communities in Chattogram Hill Tracts (CHT)’
Programme background: To support emergency response interventions for flash flood and landslide affected populations in Chattogram Hill Tracts (CHT) and Cox’s Bazar, CWFD is seeking qualified and experienced Psychosocial Counselors to provide Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Services (MHPSS) to affected individuals and communities.
Job Location: Cox's Bazar, Chattogram and Bandarban Districts (upazila-based position)
Job duration: Up to 31 December 2026
Line of responsibility: The Psychosocial Counselor will directly be reportable to the Programme Manager-Humanitarian, A&Y Programme of CWFD.

Key Responsibilities
Provide Psychological First Aid (PFA) and psychosocial support services to disaster-affected individuals and families.
Conduct individual, family, and group counseling sessions for women, adolescents, youth, older persons, and other vulnerable groups.
Support beneficiaries experiencing stress, trauma, anxiety, grief, loss, displacement, and disaster-related psychosocial challenges.
Facilitate psychoeducation sessions on mental health, coping mechanisms, resilience, self-care, and stress management.
Identify and assess psychosocial needs and develop appropriate support plans.
Ensure confidential case management and maintain accurate documentation of counseling services.
Establish and maintain referral pathways for specialized mental health, protection, gender-based violence (GBV), health, and social services.
Coordinate closely with project teams, local authorities, health facilities, protection actors, and community leaders.
Support awareness sessions on Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), and related issues.
Prepare regular reports, case summaries, session plans, and other project documentation.
Participate in supervision, capacity-building activities, and project review meetings.
Ensure compliance with humanitarian principles, safeguarding policies, and organizational standards.
BDT 70,000/- per month (including all other benefits); and Field travel and communication allowances as applicable.
