  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in finance, accounting, and administrative roles, preferably in development or donor-funded projects.

  • Knowledge of financial management principles, procurement procedures, and institutional donor compliance frameworks

  • Strong proficiency in MS Office, accounting software (e.g., Tally, QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance), and spreadsheet analysis.

  • Adequate knowledge and skills in computer applications, especially MS Office packages, digital communication tools, and flexibility to work with project management software.

SOS Children's Village International in Bangladesh (www.sos-bangladesh.org) is a non-governmental social devolvement organisation provides care for the children who have lost parental care or who are at risk of losing parental care and deprived of caring family environment. SOS Children’s Village International is probably the largest private child welfare humanitarian organization working more than 130 countries and territories in the world. In Bangladesh, we started our operations in Dhaka in 1972, and since then we have expanded our activities from here to Rajshahi, Khulna, Bagerhat, Chattogram, Bogura, Kurigram, Gazipur and Sylhet.

Our Programmes contribute to delivering on SDGs with a special focus on our target group to improve national social protection system, fighting inequalities, promoting access to quality education, strengthening youth employability and ending violence against children.

SOS Bangladesh is seeking competent candidates for the smooth operation of the following positions.

  • Project Name: STEP Project

  • Project Type: Partnership Project in Partnership with IDEA, Sylhet

  • Location of job: STEP Project location, Golapganj, Sylhet

  • Nature of Job: Multi years Project, Fixed Term Contract for One year (Yearly renewable based on performance)

Mission of the Position:

The Project Officer – Finance & Administration will be responsible for ensuring efficient financial management, administrative support, and compliance with donor and organizational regulations across all project operations. This position will provide critical support in budgeting, accounting, procurement oversight, and office administration for the project.

As part of the lead organization in the consortium, the officer will assist in consolidating partner financial reports, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring transparency, accountability, and value for money in all project expenditures.

Key performance areas and main responsibilities:

  • Support day-to-day financial operations, including voucher preparation, payments, and recordkeeping.

  • Maintain accurate financial records and ledgers in accordance with organizational and donor requirements.

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and audit requirements.

  • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of project budgets and forecasts.

  • Support consolidation of financial reports from consortium partners.

  • Track expenditures against approved budgets and flag variances for management action.

  • Prepare and submit financial reports in coordination with the management.

  • Support procurement activities, ensuring adherence to donor procurement policies and procedures.

  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of project assets and supplies.

  • Oversee office logistics, fleet management, and asset tagging.

  • Provide administrative support to project staff, including travel arrangements, meeting coordination, and logistics.

  • Maintain organized filing systems for project correspondence, contracts, and financial documents.

  • Coordinate event logistics such as workshops, training sessions, and field visits.

  • Ensure compliance with organizations and donor regulations, tax laws, and statutory obligations.

  • Support preparation for internal and external audits by providing required documentation.

  • Follow up on audit findings and support implementation of corrective actions.

  • Collaborate with partner organizations for financial data exchange and harmonized reporting.

  • Support communication between finance, procurement, and program teams to ensure smooth project operations.
