Job Context:
∎ Project Brief: The `Bamboo for Climate Action (B4CA) Project` is working towards the mitigation of risks emanating from climate change, environmental degradation and natural hazards in an integrated manner through bamboo focused forestation in several Sub-districts and Rohingya Refugee Camps in Cox`s Bazar.
∎ Job Statement: The Project Manager will be the key person to manage the project(s) funded by SDC (The Embassy of Switzerland in Bangladesh) and provide technical guidance and timely programme coordination for the overall operation of the project activities. He/she will ensure highly professional and cordial rapport building with all the key potential stakeholders including the GoB, UN, sectorial platforms, etc. by attending meetings, seminars, workshops and multi-functional visits at project intervention sites. He/she will be responsible for partner management and evaluation. He/she will produce and share all necessary project reports to respective stakeholders including SDC. The Project Manager will preside monthly staff coordination meeting, provide necessary guidance, uphold policy directives and supervise subordinates. The Project Manager will be overall responsible person for project delivery in a timely manner and keeping the quality at per. He/she will be the primary contact point of the project and keep corresponding with the SDC`s technical and programme team.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ A. Programme Activities
∎ The Project Manager will be responsible for creating a Detailed Implementation Plan (DIP) and Procurement Plan (PP) for the project that includes reviewing and amending the timelines, budgets, and resources required.
∎ The Project Manager will need to keep regular communication with all the corresponding key stakeholders involved in the project, including team members, GoB (DC, UNO, RRRC, CiC etc.), Donor, Marketing Partner (iDE) and external vendors. He/she will need to ensure that everyone is aware of project timelines, expectations, and deliverables.
∎ The Project Manager will be responsible for managing the team assigned to the project. This would involve delegating tasks, tracking progress, providing feedback on performance, conducting 360-degree performance appraisal and facilitating capacity development initiatives as a part of the staff Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
∎ The Project Manager will need to manage the multi-year project budget and ensure that expenses are kept within the allocated budget as agreed and signed with the donor while a timely fashioned well planned and expected burn rate is highly desirable.
∎ The Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the project meets the required quality standards.
∎ He/she will also need to assess the potential risks mentioned in the technical proposal, further review and develop concrete strategies to mitigate them. This could include creating contingency plans and ensuring that the project team is fully aware of these plans.
∎ The Project Manager will be responsible for providing regular reports on the progress of the project to stakeholders. He/she will also need to ensure regular presence in the sectoral platform meetings with EETWG, FSS, LSDS and other relevant platforms to showcase project achievements and updates.
∎ Accompaniment support to project management and donors during field visits and sharing of monitoring findings in regular basis.
∎ In addition to these general project management responsibilities, as the Project Manager for the Bamboo for Climate Action project, he/she will also have specific responsibilities related to the project's goals of promoting sustainable development and reducing carbon emissions. Hence, knowledge on energy efficiency, carbon sequestration, greenhouse gas emission is highly desirable for the successful implementation of the bamboo focused plantation activities.
∎ B. General
∎ Reviewing monitoring results regularly and attend special meetings, notably at DC and RRRC level
∎ Assist Local Coordinator as per his/her requirements.
∎ Participate documentation/Case study/ any others study/research in the field level.
∎ Perform any other task as and when assigned by the Executive Director/ Director.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Excellent computer literacy especially MS applications
∎ Having problem-solving and prompt decision making capacity
∎ Good communication, facilitation and motivational skills.
∎ Good hand in writing both narrative and quantitative Reports.
∎ Strong writing and communication skills in English and Bangla.
∎ Ability to work under pressure.
∎ Willing to drive motorcycle having a valid driving license.
∎ Having non-discriminatory and gender-sensitive perceptions along with safeguarding
∎ To protect children in connection
∎ Understanding local culture and languages is preferable.
∎ Abilities to undertake extensive travel to the village/community level.
∎ Minimum 05 years of professional experience in the relevant field and relevant position
∎ Experience of working in the Rohingya Camps and adjacent host community contexts will be preferred.
Salary:
∎ BDT 120,000/month (inclusive all)
