Responsibilities & Context:
· Assist the Project Engineer in planning, implementing, monitoring, and maintaining WASH infrastructure in accordance with approved designs, technical standards, and work plans.
· Support the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of solar power systems for water supply networks and other WASH facilities.
· Inspect solar systems, generators, submersible pumps, inverters, electrical control panels, and other electro-mechanical equipment to ensure proper functionality.
· Conduct routine inspections of water supply and sanitation facilities and prepare preventive and corrective maintenance plans.
· Prepare and review Bills of Quantities (BoQs), technical specifications, cost estimates, and material requirements for WASH infrastructure and electro-mechanical works.
· Initiate Procurement Requisitions (PRs) for engineering materials and verify technical specifications and market suitability before procurement.
· Monitor the quality of construction materials, electrical equipment, and mechanical components, and report any non-compliance to the Project Engineer.
· Supervise contractors, technicians, and skilled workers during construction, rehabilitation, installation, and maintenance works to ensure compliance with approved designs and quality standards.
· Conduct site inspections and verify work progress, measurements, and completed works before certification.
· Support the operation and maintenance of water supply systems, distribution networks, pumps, generators, solar systems, and sanitation facilities.
· Identify technical faults and recommend timely corrective actions to minimize service interruptions.
· Participate in site assessments, feasibility studies, and site selection for new WASH infrastructure.
· Maintain accurate engineering records, maintenance logs, asset registers, drawings, and other technical documentation.
· Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly technical progress reports and promptly communicate significant technical issues to the Project Engineer.
· Coordinate with the Camp-in-Charge (CiC), WASH Sector partners, contractors, community representatives, and other stakeholders on technical implementation issues as required.
· Coordinate closely with procurement, logistics, finance, and programme teams to ensure the timely implementation of engineering activities.
· Provide technical support during monitoring visits, technical assessments, donor visits, audits, and project evaluations.
· Support emergency repairs and rapid response activities to restore WASH services during emergencies or system failures.
· Ensure compliance with WASH Sector standards, Sphere Standards, organizational engineering guidelines, occupational health and safety requirements, and environmental safeguards.
· Support the capacity building of field staff, operators, community maintenance groups, and community volunteers on the operation and routine maintenance of WASH infrastructure and electro-mechanical systems.
· Ensure proper information flow and timely communication among project teams and relevant stakeholders regarding engineering activities.
· Promote accountability, gender equality, disability inclusion, and conflict-sensitive approaches in all engineering activities.

· Ensure the safety, dignity, and well-being of staff, contractors, volunteers, and community members by preventing abuse, neglect, harassment, exploitation, and discrimination.
· Promote and comply with organizational Safeguarding, Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (PSEAH), Child Protection, and Code of Conduct policies.
· Identify and mitigate safeguarding risks associated with engineering activities and construction sites.
· Ensure all safeguarding concerns and reportable incidents are immediately reported through approved organizational reporting mechanisms while maintaining confidentiality and a survivor-centred approach.
