Project Brief: The Cultural and Sports Olympiad is a flagship initiative of the BRAC Education Programme designed to nurture adolescents' talents, promote creativity, strengthen physical wellbeing, and foster positive values through culture, sports, and co-curricular engagement. The initiative provides safe, inclusive, and equitable opportunities for students to participate in cultural and sporting activities, helping them develop confidence, leadership, teamwork, discipline, and social responsibility. Implemented through a phased approach from the school and community levels to the upazila, district, and national levels, the Olympiad aims to empower adolescents with the skills, values, and competencies needed to become creative, confident, responsible, and future-ready citizens of Bangladesh.

Job purpose: The Programme Organiser is responsible to support the effective implementation of Cultural and Sports Olympiad activities at the field level by mobilizing participants, coordinating competitions, fostering engagement with communities and educational institutions, and ensuring high-quality, inclusive, and safe participation of adolescents.

Key responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and implement cultural and sports Olympiad activities at school, community, and upazila levels.
  • Coordinate participant management, including registration, verification, scheduling, competition management, and documentation of results.
  • Mobilize adolescents and communities to ensure active participation, with special emphasis on girls, marginalized adolescents, and children with disabilities.
  • Facilitate student development through orientation, mentoring, practice sessions, and activities that strengthen leadership, teamwork, discipline, life skills, confidence, and positive values.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders, including teachers, School Management Committees (SMCs), local government representatives, cultural organizations, sports clubs, parents, and community leaders to ensure successful programme implementation.
  • Support event logistics and operations, including venue preparation, equipment management, volunteer coordination, and ensuring smooth execution of competitions.
  • Maintain programme documentation including participant databases, attendance records, competition results, photographs, case studies, and success stories.
  • Monitor programme quality by identifying implementation gaps, addressing operational issues, and recommending improvements to enhance programme effectiveness.
  • Prepare and submit timely reports and updates to the Area Coordinator while supporting monitoring, evaluation, and learning activities.

Safeguarding responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.
