Project Brief: The Medha Bikash Scholarship Programme is a BRAC-funded initiative designed to support academically talented students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds in pursuing higher education. The programme provides financial assistance to eligibl students enrolled in Higher Secondary (HSC), the first year of medical college, and the first year of university education. Beyond financial support, the programme aims to nurture a generation of compassionate, socially responsible, and skilled young leaders by enabling them to complete their education and realize their full potential. Through this initiative, BRAC seeks to expand equitable access to higher education and empower talented young people to contribute meaningfully to the development of Bangladesh. The project duration ends in June 2027.

Job Purpose: The Programme Organiser will be responsible to drive the ground-level execution of the Medha Bikash scholarship initiative by finding brilliant, under-resourced students. The role focuses on guiding them through the enrollment cycle, managing day-to-day stipend logistics, and arranging student development workshops and orientation sessions to support scholars’ academic success, leadership potential, life skills, psychosocial well-being, and overall personal development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify and assess high-potential, under-resourced SSC and HSC graduates through field visits, verifying academic credentials, family background, and household income against BRAC Medha Bikash scholarship eligibility criteria.
• Maintain accurate regional applicant and scholar records by tracking applications, supporting documents, submission status, and academic progress.
• Coordinate monthly stipend disbursements by verifying scholar attendance and academic continuity to prevent financial discrepancies.
• Plan and facilitate learning camps, orientation programmes, leadership development initiatives, and life-skills workshops for selected student cohorts, ensuring effective logistics and participant engagement.
• Promote by disseminating application notices, informational posters and eligibility criteria through schools, colleges, and community networks.
• Build and maintain relationships with educational institutions, local authorities, and guardians to strengthen local institutional support for the students.
• Monitor scholars' academic performance, attendance, participation in student development, leadership engagement, and overall well-being, providing guidance, mentoring, and referral support as needed.
• Facilitate and coordinate student development interventions including life-skills education, leadership development, career guidance, communication skills, values education, psychosocial support sessions, and civic engagement activities.

Safeguarding responsibilities:

• Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
• Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
• Practice, promote, and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
