Experience:
B.Sc. in Electrical & Electronic Engineering/ Electromechanical Engineering/ Mechatronic Engineering/ Power Engineering with Renewable Sufficient Energy & power training.
Masters in Renewable Energy/ Electrical & Electronic Engineering/ Environmental Science/ Environmental Engineering be an advantage.
Minimum 05 years of experience in implementation of renewable energy/solar systems project·
A minimum of three years of professional experience working in humanitarian camps or field settings with UN supported WASH projects and such experience will be considered distinct advantage for the position.
Minimum 02 years of team leadership experience in supervising renewable energy/solar systems projects particularly in camp context.
Must have work experience in the operation and maintenance (O&M) of solar PV system (nano-grid and mini-grid) and solar system.
Experience on preparation of technical documentation, including site assessment reports, energy audits, maintenance records, single-line diagrams (SLD), electrical layouts, commissioning reports, action plans, and energy consumption reports.
Good knowledge of electrical safety standards, preventive maintenance systems, energy planning, and quality control of electrical works.
Knowledge on Rohingya Refugee context includes energy and power intervention in emergency/humanitarian situations.
Demonstrated knowledge of UNICEF programme policies, technical standards, and quality assurance requirements for solar power projects.
Proven ability to ensure quality implementation and delivery in accordance with UNICEF guidelines, engineering standards, contractual requirements, and humanitarian principles, while maintaining compliance with project timeline and accountability mechanisms.
Experience in providing technical guidance, supervision, and capacity building support to ensure quality implementation of project activities.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, construction specifications and technical manuals.
Knowledge of construction quality control and occupational health and safety practices.
Strong facilitation, coaching and adult learning skills.
Ability to identify installation issues and provide practical technical solutions.
Proficient knowledge of standard computer software (AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, PVSyst, HOMER & MS office).
Hard working, able to work under pressure in humanitarian response context, with a positive and can-do attitude.
Certified training in solar/hybrid systems, electrical protection systems, grounding/earthing, energy efficiency, or electrical safety is desirable.
Commitment to capacity building and knowledge transfer.
Fluency in English and Bangla; knowledge of Rohingya/Chittagonian dialect is an asset.
Lead the design and implementation of energy infrastructure and upgradation of water supply networks and adhering the national and international relevant standards.
Prepare, review and update technical documentation in energy area including diagrams, layouts, load schedules, cable schedules, equipment lists, maintenance records, consumption reports, power assessments, technical visit reports, and action plans.
Review and technically validate the scope of works, technical specifications, bills of quantities (BOQ) related to electrical, generator, solar system, energy storage system (ESS), electrical protection system and other energy-related works before submission for procurement or implementation.
Ensure proper commissioning, testing, handover and documentation of new or upgraded installations of energy infrastructure and verify that works carried out by contractors or field teams meet the required quality and safety standards before acceptance.
Monitor system performance, power availability, backup arrangements, fuel-related energy use, and energy consumption trends across locations, and propose practical measures to improve efficiency, reduce operating costs and carbon footprint.
Ensure required tools, spare parts, consumables and replacement items for the energy assets and infrastructures are properly specified, standardized where possible, monitored, and forecasted in coordination with relevant units.
Conduct comprehensive technical assessments of electrical installations, Generator installation, evaluating system safety, electrical protection, grounding/earthing, load distribution, and operational reliability to ensure compliance with applicable standards and uninterrupted service.
Independently troubleshoot, repair, modify, and replace defective components with minimal supervision, ensuring all corrective interventions comply with engineering best practices, safety regulations, and quality standards.
Assess, optimize, and monitor solar-powered water pumping systems to ensure reliable and energy-efficient water service delivery and provide technical solutions to improve motor efficiency and reduce energy consumption through the application of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), power management strategies, and optimized pumping schedules and so on.
Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance (when required) programs to improve system reliability and minimize downtime of water supply infrastructure in multiple locations.
Establish daily, weekly, and monthly inspection and preventive monitoring procedures for energy assets and infrastructures including pumps, motors, solar arrays, inline dosing system, protection equipment, control systems and generators.
Ensure compliance with applicable electrical safety standards, humanitarian sector guidelines, environmental regulations, and Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) requirements across all energy installations, operations, maintenance, and related activities.
Provide technical training and capacity building to technicians, pump operators, and maintenance personnel on electrical safety, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of water and energy systems for autonomous operation.
Monitor system performance and energy efficiency. Prepare technical reports, maintenance logs, and project documentation. Recommend improvements to enhance reliability and reduce operating costs.
