TECHNICAL EXPERTISE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

ESSENTIAL:

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in conflict resolution, peacebuilding and protection sector having strong knowledge and understanding on Humanitarian and conflict mitigation issues.

Knowledge:

  • Good knowledge and understanding of Do No Harm principles and other humanitarian standards.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Humanitarian architecture of the Rohingya Response it’s operating and regulatory environment.
  • Good understanding on gender, gender based violence and prevention.
  • Good understanding on child safeguarding and equality for girls.
  • Knowledge and understanding of FIVDB’s vision, mission values.

  • Strong planning, budgeting, financial management, project implementation skills.
  • Strong management, supervisory and coaching skills, and able to support and train staff to work with disaster affected communities in a sensitive and participatory manner.
  • Strong ability to communicate clearly and sensitively with internal and external stakeholders as a representative of organization,
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Prior experience on designing and delivering training, workshop and other capacity building initiatives with a variety of audiences.
  • Strong negotiation and networking and coordination skills.
  • Demonstrates skill on problem-solving, decision making.
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities & Context:

Project Context:

Friends in Village Development Bangladesh (FIVDB) is going to implement the Socio-economic support for Host and displaced communities in Cox’s Bazar (SHADE), a project under its Humanitarian Preparedness and Response Program, Cox’s Bazar, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. The project duration is 30th May 2027.

Job Summary:

The Project Associate will support the effective implementation of community-based mediation and social cohesion activities at the field level. The position requires close coordination with the Camp in Charge (CiC) Union Parishad, Chairman, Member, community leaders, Majhi, religious leaders, and other community stakeholders to ensure the smooth execution of activities. The role will also provide direct support to camp facilitators, mediators, and Peace Promotion Groups (PPGs) to strengthen community engagement and conflict resolution efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Field Coordination & Communication:

• Report to the Project Officer on daily field activities, progress, and challenges

• Frequent communication with the Project Officer

• Maintain close coordination and regular communication with CiC, Majhi, religious leaders, and other community stakeholders

• Facilitate approvals, access, and smooth implementation of activities within camps and host communities

• Act as a liaison between the project team, field actors, and community representatives

2. Support to Field Teams & Community Structures:

• Provide regular support and guidance to camp facilitators, mediators, and Peace Promotion Groups (PPGs) during field activities

• Assist in organizing and conducting mediation sessions, community dialogues, and awareness activities

• Ensure field teams are engaged, coordinated, and responsive to community needs

3. Community Engagement & Mediation Support:

• Participate in and support community-based mediation processes and dialogue sessions

• Engage with community members to promote peaceful conflict resolution and social cohesion

• Strengthen relationships with key community actors to build trust and collaboration

4. Field Monitoring & Follow-up:

• Conduct regular field visits to monitor ongoing activities and ensure proper coordination with stakeholders

• Follow up on mediation cases in consultation with CiC, Majhi, and community leaders

• Identify field-level issues and communicate them promptly to the Project Officer

5. Information Sharing & Reporting:

• Ensure timely communication of field updates, community feedback, and emerging issues

• Support documentation of field activities, including case updates, attendance, and activity reports

• Assist in maintaining accurate and organized field-level records

6. Safeguarding & Inclusive Practices:

• Ensure respectful, inclusive, and safe engagement with all community members, especially women and vulnerable groups

• Promote safeguarding, PSEA, and protection principles in all field interactions

• Report any protection concerns following organizational procedures
