Job Responsibilities:
∎ Programme Development and Management-25%
∎ Provide overall leadership to the child rights department by developing a strong program profile
∎ Manage the One to One Orphan sponsorship program and ensure the activities are implemented as per the agreed action plan.
∎ Develop short-term and long-term action plans for the department and ensure its smooth implementation
∎ Undertake regular field visits and monitor the program activities
∎ Facilitate the development strong program portfolio through innovations and learning.
∎ Develop high-quality proposals on child rights issues and submit them to the donor for funding
∎ Identify funding opportunities and cultivate a relationship with the donors both in-country and outsides
∎ Implement the Child Rights Programming approach in all the programs being implemented under the department
∎ Provide technical support to the program team in the area of child rights programming, child protection, and other related areas.
∎ Overseas and manage the development, research, and learning agenda and socialization of CR programming approaches, to ensure that IRB’s CR work reflects our best understanding of how to address identified problems facing children in multiple contexts and countries
∎ Work closely will the IRB global orphan support program team at HQ and ensure that policies /guidelines related to the orphan sponsorship program are implemented effectively.
∎ Ensure timely reports are collected from the field and submitted to the donor through online systems.
∎ Ensure donor queries are addressed promptly
∎ Network and Advocacy-20%
∎ Pro-actively engage with national and regional child rights forums and influence their agenda
∎ Represent Islamic Relief at the national level child rights forum and showcase IR work
∎ Engage with national-level child rights networks, UN bodies, and International INGOs and contribute to the UNCRC reporting process, Universal Periodic Review process, and another human rights-based reporting mechanism
∎ Proactively engage with relevant government departments and ministries and present IR work and draw leverage.
∎ Proactively identify advocacy opportunities, case studies, and research opportunities that link with wider organizational strategic objectives.
∎ Collaborate closely with IRB’s Head of Program and External Relation & Communication Unit, for driving key advocacy messages related to child protection needs and rights in Bangladesh.
∎ Take part in shaping Child Protection/CR communications and media priorities in line with thematic priorities.
∎ Capacity Building and Technical Support-10%
∎ Develop technical guidance, position papers, and resource materials on CR programming and policy.
∎ Roll out the Global IRB child protection policy across the organization by conducting training sessions
∎ Provide technical support to different program departments on child protection issues.
∎ CR in Humanitarian Responses-10%
∎ Build the profile and programming of CR within a humanitarian practice, particularly concerning supporting humanitarian programming and advocacy to prioritize accountability to affected populations through stronger consultation with children and partners in humanitarian responses (in line with Grand Bargain and core humanitarian standards commitments).
∎ Knowledge Management-10%
∎ Supported by the PQ team, collect and disseminate IRB’s program experience and learning in Child Rights.
∎ In close collaboration with the Head of the Program, ensure a strong linkage between knowledge management and the learning and evidence agenda.
∎ Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting-10%
∎ Ensure that projects are monitored regularly, to ensure field teams are adequately supported. Monitoring and evaluation results are understood and used to improve programs.
∎ Ensure that appropriate, timely, and accurate data collection against agreed indicators enables both internal and external reporting.
∎ With support from the MEAL team put in place a monitoring and evaluation plan and tools with both quantitative and qualitative indicators for child rights, ensuring this links to reporting requirements.
∎ Consider integration in the program of the different thematic programs and approaches including Child Rights Programming, Theory of Change, DRR, gender, inclusion, diversity/non-discrimination, children as stakeholders, impact assessment, and organizational learning.
∎ Ensure that child protection interventions are informed by and integrated with other core sectors, including ensuring that issues for child protection are raised and addressed.
∎ Staff Management & Development-10%
∎ Provide leadership and direction to the Child Rights department through proactive engagement, communication, and direction
∎ Develop strategic objectives and work plans for the unit through the active participation of the team member.
∎ Ensuring that each member of the team fully understands the outcomes that are expected of them and they are aware of the success criteria which pertain to their work.
∎ Ensuring that work is planned and organized in a way that will meet the needs of staff at the Islamic Relief Country Office and in project areas in the most cost-effective manner possible.
∎ Ensuring that team members are given appropriate workloads and are working efficiently.
∎ Supporting team members to enable them to give their best e.g. by encouraging and Praising good performance, Coaching, assisting staff to prevent or resolve problems and providing resources, tools, and equipment.
∎ Monitoring and reviewing performance and, in particular, holding staff accountable for meeting the success criteria and delivering any improvement goals which have been identified; giving corrective feedback where required, and taking decisive action in the case of poor performance.
∎ Ensuring that staff is adequately trained and developed for their roles e.g. by analyzing staff training needs, organizing the delivery of training or coaching, and coordinating the sharing of experience.

∎ A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience at a similar level in Orphane & child rights
∎ Knowledge of strategic planning processes and theories of child-rights programming
∎ Capacity-building experience including training and skills development.
∎ Ability to work independently, function effectively as a member of a regional team, and adhere to strict deadlines
∎ Strong interpersonal skills, including written, verbal, and presentation skills
∎ Proven ability to develop project proposals and concepts
∎ Excellent networking and partnership-building skills
