Samaj Kalyan O Unnayan Shangstha (SKUS) envisions a peaceful, prosperous, and poverty-free society that ensures everyone's basic needs and rights. SKUS has since the 2017 Rohingya refugee influx worked in Cox's Bazar district with children adolescents, women, and men. Based on children, adolescents, women, and human rights. SKUS has established quality learning and protection centers with support from different international donors, including UN agencies.  SKUS has an agreement with UN WOMEN for the Women’s Peace & Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) project for Rohingya and host communities at Ukhiya and Teknaf Upazila under Cox's Bazar District.  This project aims to strengthen the leadership, participation, and protection of marginalized Rohingya and host community women in Cox’s Bazar who face vulnerabilities due to climate-induced disasters, climate-related conflict, displacement, and systemic gender inequalities.

Role Purpose:

The Program Organizer will be responsible for coordinating and supporting the day-to-day field implementation of the project, with particular emphasis on climate-resilient livelihoods, skills development, women's participation, community mobilization, training, post-training support, and community engagement.

The position will work closely with project participants, women's groups, community leaders, trainers, local stakeholders, and relevant government and humanitarian actors to ensure that project activities are implemented effectively, inclusively, and on time.

The Program Organizer will play a key role in mobilizing marginalized Rohingya and host community women, beneficiary selection, organizing training and community events, facilitating linkages with livelihood and market actors, monitoring field-level progress, identifying implementation challenges, and ensuring that project activities contribute to women's economic agency, leadership, climate resilience, and participation in community decision-making. The role also promotes safeguarding, accountability, gender equality, disability inclusion, and gender responsive interventions to ensure safe, inclusive, and quality working environments.

 

Description of the Work Assignment

The main tasks & Responsibilities of the Program Organizer are, but not limited to

Program Implementation

  • Facilitate the day-to-day implementation of project activities at field level by following the approved work plan, project guidelines, and quality standards.

  • Prepare activity schedules and coordinate with the Project manager, technical staff, trainers, community representatives, and other relevant stakeholders.

  • Identify implementation gaps, operational challenges, and emerging field-level issues and communicate them promptly to the Project manager.

  • Ensure that necessary materials, venues, participants, trainers, and logistical arrangements are available before activities.

  • Facilitate linkages between trained women, service providers, markets, buyers, entrepreneurs, financial institutions, and other relevant actors where appropriate.

  • Track participants' progress from training participation toward livelihood application, income-generating activities, and market engagement.

  • Support the organization of exhibitions, fairs, product showcases, market linkage events, and other livelihood-related events.

  • Maintain regular communication with technical staff, trainers, volunteers, community leaders/representative and project participants.

  • Maintain regular communication with local community leaders, women's groups, local CSOs, government representatives, camp authorities, humanitarian actors, trainers, market actors, and other relevant stakeholders.

Community Mobilization and Engagement

  • Mobilize marginalized Rohingya and host community participants, particularly young women and women facing socioeconomic vulnerabilities, to participate in project activities.

  • Conduct community-level consultations and awareness sessions on project objectives, climate-resilient livelihoods, women's economic agency, leadership, and participation.

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with community members, women's groups, community leaders, volunteers, and local stakeholders.

  • Support community-based initiatives that promote social cohesion and cooperation between Rohingya and host communities.

  • Ensure that community mobilization is conducted in a respectful, conflict-sensitive, inclusive, and culturally appropriate manner.

  • Support the organization of community dialogues and engagement activities involving Rohingya and host community stakeholders where appropriate.

  • Facilitate discussions on shared livelihood challenges, climate-related risks, resource pressures, and community concerns.

·         Ensure that all coordination and community engagement activities uphold the principles of safeguarding, child protection, gender equality, inclusion, and "Do No Harm."

Safeguarding, accountability and Inclusion

·         Undertakes other responsibilities/duties not outlined above which are commensurate with a role of this nature in the humanitarian sector and which have been discussed and agreed between the line manager/superiors and the post holder.

·         Ensure compliance with the organization's Safeguarding, Child Protection, PSEAH, and Code of Conduct policies.

·         Promote Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) by ensuring accessible feedback and complaint mechanisms and responding to community concerns appropriately.

·         Ensure equal access and participation for persons living with disabilities and other vulnerable groups through gender-responsive and inclusive programming.

  • Program Organizer is based at the MPWC in the camp and host community of Cox's Bazar district.

  • Good organizational skills to work autonomously and plan meetings as per the project design

  • Empathy combined with a genuine desire to improve the quality of the lives of service users is essential, as is the ability to think on your feet and make difficult decisions under pressure. An interest or participation in some aspects of the local community is useful. General administrative skills are also needed.
