The Culturally Aligned Generative AI Project is design to support para-counselors in low-resource community Mental Health settings. The goal of the project is to strengthen community-based mental health services in Bangladesh by improving the quality, accessibility, equity and effectiveness of care through culturally aligned, ethically responsible and evidence-informed AI-assisted decision support for para-counselors.
Job Summary:
The Para-counselor is a front-line project worker responsible for community-based mental health screening and AI-assisted structured para-counselling sessions for project participants, delivered under the clinical supervision of the Psychologist- para counselors will report. The role also involves supporting courtyard and stakeholder engagement sessions, coordinating with the Field Coordinator on session scheduling and logistics, and maintaining accurate case documentation.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Screening and Case Identification
Administer the assigned screening tools for assessment prior to para-counselling session.
Support achievement of site-level screening targets across the anxiety, depression, and psychosis categories.
2. para-Counselling and AI-Assisted Decision Support
Conduct structured para-counselling sessions.
Use the AI-assisted, culturally aligned decision-support tool during para-counselling sessions as trained, under the supervision of the Psychologist.
Flag complex, severe, or psychosis cases to the Psychologist and Field Coordinator for referral.
Support facilitation of courtyard sessions for community awareness and engagement.
3. Documentation, Supervision and Learning
Maintain accurate and confidential case records, session notes, and screening data.
Participate in regular clinical supervision and case consultation with the Psychologist.
Attend screening-tools, lay-counselling, and AI-tool trainings.
Contribute to case-story documentation as required.
4. Community and Stakeholder Engagement
Support community mobilization and stakeholder engagement sessions at the site level.
Build rapport and trust with community members to support participation and reduce mental health stigma.
5. Other
Coordinate with the Field Coordinator on session scheduling and logistics.
Undertake other duties as assigned, relevant to the role.
