Job Context:
∎ The IRC is leading in the implementation of Protection Mainstreaming in Cox’s Bazar among IRC, partners and Sector Working Groups with close coordination and guidance from Protection Working Group (PWG). The Protection Mainstreaming officer will lead the implementation process by ensuing that protection mainstreaming is core in all IRC and Partner Programs of ECHO funded project; support to develop/ adapt existing tools to the context; train staff and volunteers from IRC and Partner organizations in both camp and host community, and conduct field visits to conduct Protection Mainstreaming assessments and site visits and oversee the implementation of Mainstreaming action Plan.
∎ Contract Length: Till 31 May 2022 (with possibility of extension)

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Design and deliver trainings to Internal and Partner staff members and volunteers in both camp and host community on protection principles, protection mainstreaming, PSEA, accountability to affected populations, and other relevant topics
∎ Support to conduct protection mainstreaming assessments to identify protection mainstreaming needs; based on the assessment findings, make recommendations to enhance protection mainstreaming in the relevant sectors
∎ Support the implementation of remedial/corrective actions identified through these assessments and monitor progress
∎ Develop and adapt existing tools and training materials to ensure up to date and technically sound mechanisms are in place for the protection mainstreaming program
∎ Identify along with partners and train Protection Mainstreaming Focal Points for each Partner to conduct protection mainstreaming on a regular basis
∎ Prepare training Plans and Reports, including assist donor report
∎ Conduct field visits to Partner sites, areas of operation, centers, and other areas where IRC conducts activities to offer support
∎ Compile information from protection mainstreaming focal points and provide monthly reports to the supervisor and Integrated Protection Coordinator with observations and recommendations to improve the protection environment
∎ Assist in reporting for general protection programming
∎ Liaise with relevant public authorities and service providers in order to foster effective collaboration and encourage a conducive protection environment for affected populations and encourage national interest and ownership in protection of beneficiaries
∎ Develop and lead process for the adaptation and contextualization of the PM checklist for Bangladesh
∎ Support Advocacy efforts based on results of assessments

Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum of three years of experience working in protection field preferably with an International NGO
∎ Extensive experience in conducting training
∎ Familiarity with Protection Mainstreaming, Toolkit, Mainstreaming Checklist and action plan
∎ Knowledge/experience of the coordination structures in Bangladesh is an important asset
∎ Strong understanding of protection principles and likely protection concerns
∎ Post holder will hold deep understanding and experience in General Protection, Child Protection, or Gender and inclusion
∎ Experience with participatory approaches to protection and/or gender mainstreaming.
∎ Good knowledge of concepts, approaches and application of PSEA policies and best practices.
∎ Demonstrated understanding of international standards and guidelines in protection standards.
∎ Experienced trainer/teacher of adults and multi-cultural groups
∎ Females are encourage to apply.
∎ Good report writing skills
∎ Demonstrated interpersonal skills and respect for people from different cultures and backgrounds and especially those with special needs and other vulnerabilities
∎ Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
∎ Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently
∎ Comfortable using information technology (Computers, Smartphones and Tablets) and MS Office, Power point, Word and Excel
∎ Good written, verbal & oral communication skills in English and Bangla
∎ Good command of Rohingya language is must
