Job Context: (Contractual – Project Based)

Background

Nagorik Uddyog is a national level human rights and development organization working in Bangladesh to promote social justice, strengthen democratic governance, and advance the rights of marginalized and excluded communities. With long-standing experience in labour rights advocacy, community empowerment, legal aid, and policy engagement, the organization places special emphasis on women workers, informal sector labour rights, and rights-based grassroots mobilization.

Building on this experience, the project “Empowering Women Workers for Rights and Safety” (39 months, 1 July 2026 – 30 September 2029) is designed to strengthen the collective agency, leadership, and workplace rights of women engaged in informal and subcontracted Ready-Made Garment (RMG) production contexts in Bangladesh. The project focuses on enhancing their awareness of labour rights and occupational safety, and developing their capacity for collective action, negotiation, and workplace dialogue. Through structured training, peer leadership development, workplace coordination mechanisms, research, and advocacy, the project aims to improve working conditions, strengthen grievance systems, and amplify women workers’ voices in decision-making spaces.

Job Summary

The Field Mobilizer will be responsible for facilitating grassroots-level implementation of project activities, including community outreach, mobilization, organization of meetings and trainings, and continuous engagement with women workers and local stakeholders.

The position plays a critical role in ensuring strong field presence, trust-building with workers, smooth coordination of activities, and effective documentation of field-level processes. Field Mobilizers will work closely with the Project Officer, Project Coordinator, and labour rights associations to ensure successful delivery of project objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Community Outreach & Mobilization

  • Conduct regular field visits to engage women workers in informal RMG settings.
  • Identify and mobilize eligible women workers.
  • Build trust-based relationships with workers through continuous engagement.
  • Raise awareness on labour rights, workplace safety, and collective action.
  • Assist in organizing group meetings, discussions, and peer learning sessions.
  • Encourage active participation of women workers in collective platforms.
  • Support identification of group focal persons and peer leaders.

Training & Capacity Building Support

  • Assist in organizing and mobilizing participants for training sessions and workshops.
  • Provide logistical and field-level support during trainings and refresher sessions.
  • Support trainers and facilitators during sessions as required.
  • Ensure follow-up engagement of trained women workers.
  • Coordination & Field Implementation
  • Maintain regular coordination with Project Officer and field team.
  • Support scheduling and smooth implementation of field activities.
  • Coordinate with labour rights associations and local stakeholders.
  • Ensure effective communication between workers and project management.

Monitoring, Documentation & Reporting

  • Collect field data, case stories, and activity documentation.
  • Maintain records of meetings, participation and contribution.
  • Prepare regular field reports and submit updates to Project Officer.
  • Document challenges, feedback, and emerging field realities.

Advocacy & Awareness Support

  • Support women workers in organizing and conducting dialogues with the factory management.
  • Assist in dissemination of IEC materials among workers.
  • Document voices, experiences, and change stories of women workers.

Sustainability & Relationship Building

  • Strengthen trust and long-term engagement with women workers
  • Support peer learning and continuous group interaction.
  • Support sustainability of the capacity building and leadership initiatives under the project through consistent follow-up and motivation.

  • Festival Bonus: 2
  • Two yearly bonus (equivalent to one month`s salary) Costs in relation to any fieldwork will be borne by the organization.
