Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Employment Start: 01 July 2024
∎ Contract Duration: 1 year initially. The contract will be extended based on performance until the end of the project (June 2027).
∎ Place of Work: Dhaka, Bangladesh with regular visits to field locations
∎ Conduct research, networking, and outreach activities to identify and engage potential applicants and partner organizations for BMMDP’s Challenge Fund and De-risking Fund.
∎ Apply knowledge/experience in environmental studies, climate change, disaster risk management, and development to evaluate partnership opportunities, and ensure alignment with BMMDP's overall climate-sensitive and market-driven approach.
∎ Maintain a portfolio of potential applicants, partner organizations, and other stakeholders for pipeline development of BMMDP’s Challenge Fund and De-risking Fund.
∎ Maintain accurate records of all interactions with partners and applicants, including correspondence, meetings, and proposal submissions.
∎ Support in organising information sessions, workshops, and networking events to engage with the stakeholder community and actively promote BMMDP’s Challenge Fund and De-risking Fund.
∎ Assist in evaluating project proposals and conduct initial assessments related to the pipeline development activities for BMMDP’s Challenge Fund and De-risking Fund.
∎ Assist Coordinator-Pipeline Development for project implementation to achieve qualitative and quantitative outcomes and intended impact in a timely manner.
∎ Provide support to Coordinator-Pipeline Development in preparing project progress reports, technical reports, donor reports, and providing inputs as necessary.
∎ Perform any other duty(s) in line with the roles and responsibilities provided, as/when assigned by Coordinator-Pipeline Development.

In addition, the organisation’s sustainable criteria comprise of gender equality and social inclusion, financial capability, environmental responsibility, and good governance.
∎ Swisscontact is inviting applications from young and ambitious development professionals for the position of Officer- Pipeline Development for BMMDP Phase-II. The main objective of the phase is to develop a conducive policy environment for climate-sensitive microinsurance to stimulate climate-sensitive, client-centric, and commercially viable microinsurance products/services and improve the support service market through enhanced capacity of various support service actors (Public/private Insurance companies, Technology solution providers, etc). and to increase mass awareness and understanding of potential beneficiaries among low-income households to encourage demand for climate-resilient microinsurance products. This is mandated by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the phase envisions fostering inclusive growth in the agriculture and livestock sector in Bangladesh through agriculture and livestock insurance along with risk-reducing embedded extension services. Swisscontact is acting as the Managing Agent (MA) of the project and wants to have a better understanding of the microinsurance market with particular focus on agriculture and livestock and to come up with systemic interventions.
∎ Purpose of the Job
∎ The Officer - Pipeline Development will primarily support the team in identifying, developing, and managing partnerships with different stakeholders (both private and public sector actors), who are key to advancing BMMDP’s overall strategic goals – particularly in the context of operationalising BMMDP’s Challenge Fund and De-risking Fund. The ideal candidate should possess clear understanding of the interconnections between climate change, disaster risk management, and agriculture, as this will be crucial for effectively assessing partnership opportunities and ensuring that they align with BMMDP’s climate-sensitive and market-driven approach.
