Job Context:
∎ About Terre des hommes:
∎ Terre des hommes Foundation (Tdh) is the leading Swiss INGO focusing on child rights. It is active in more than 30 countries with development and emergency projects. Tdh interventions are focused on the three programs: Health, Migration and Access to Justice particularly for vulnerable children. Tdh Foundation has a transversal approach towards Child Protection programming and it cuts across all the thematic areas while also has been considered as one of the key value propositions in its business model. The Child Protection expertise within Tdh Foundation aims to develop high quality, evidence-based knowledge and know-how adapted to fragile contexts, conflict zones, and development to improve the protection of children`s rights and their right to protection from all forms of violence (art 19, 34 CRC) in collaboration with and in support of the three core programs. The Tdh Foundation global strategy 2021-2024 specifies that the will have demonstrated that rights-based participation, empowerment, and active involvement of children and communities in defining and implementing responses are essential to improve child protection.
∎ Context:
∎ Tdh is working in Bangladesh since 1974, with operations in Kurigram district, Dhaka district and Cox Bazaar district. Currently, Tdh is implementing programs on Health, Access to Justice (social cohesion and conflict resolution) and Migration, integrated by the transversal expertise WASH and Child protection. Tdh interventions in Bangladesh are both in development and emergency context.
∎ Following the massive displacement of more than 800,000 people into Bangladesh since the end of August 2017, Tdh has put in place an important emergency response plan to provide relief to the Rohingya refugees, notably on Health, WASH, Child Protection and Social cohesion. Alongside, Tdh is implementing the CLARISSA project in Dhaka slums aiming to build a strong evidence base and generate innovative solutions to the worst forms of child labour (WFCL) and will explore how to take these solutions to scale.
∎ Tdh in Bangladesh has started the process of integration of emergency and development approaches and aims to capitalize its institutional learning for further programme expansion and to create critical pathways for evidence-based advocacy.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Reception and follow up of patients :
∎ Receiving and installing the patients on their arrival in the service
∎ Informing patients of how the service functions and the modalities to be followed
∎ Helping the nurse to take and interpret vital signs (temperature, heart and respiratory rates, artery pressure, state of consciousness, weight, etc)
∎ Carrying out all care delegated by the nurse: damping down, changing urine collectors, parachecks, etc.
∎ Taking daily measures to ensure the hygiene and comfort of bed-ridden patients: washing, installation for eating meals, changing position, etc
∎ Seeing to patients’ security
∎ Helping to position patients correctly during medical acts
∎ Watching over food intake and helping during meals if necessary
∎ Watching over adequate liquid intake
∎ Referring to the nurse in the case of all abnormal changes in patients’ health status
∎ Reassuring and informing patients and the persons accompanying them throughout their hospitalisation
∎ Setting up health education sessions according to needs
∎ Supporting the reporting requiremts e.g., EPI, COVID and other infections
∎ Assist nurses in data entry of Electronic Medical Record
∎ Act as back up of nurses duty while in emergency and other changing circumstances
∎ Hygiene in the service :
∎ Ensuring adequate hygiene conditions in the patients’ environment: Follow up bed making procedures, clean beds, , clean furniture, IPD consumption tracking for drugs and consumables, etc
∎ Carrying out the sorting and correct disposal of waste
∎ Ensuring the availability of water, soap, and disinfectants for hand washing and general hygiene in the service
∎ Preparing disinfectant solutions following doses, dilution and usage conditions
∎ Cleaning and decontaminating used instruments according to the protocol in use
∎ Ensuring autoclaving of equipments and keep documentation for tracking the sterilization procedure.
∎ Setting up a laundry follow up system
∎ Supporting proposal disposal of clinical and non-clinical waste
∎ Liaison between the different services :
∎ Ensuring the transfer and transport of patients between the different services and departments
∎ Collaborating with the teams to ensure the care of patients.
∎ Transporting samples destined for the laboratory and collecting the results on a daily basis
∎ Helping the dispenser and storekeeper to keep tracking the drugs and consumables in observation and emergency room.
