Experience:
Strong hands-on experience with Cisco IOS/NX-OS and/or Arista EOS.
In-depth knowledge of core networking protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, STP, VLANs, VRF, 802.1X, TCP/IP).
Proven experience with enterprise-grade wireless technologies (Cisco, Aruba, or Mist).
Experience with firewall configuration and management.
Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
Professional certifications such as CCNP/CCIE, JNCIP/JNCIE, or equivalent.
Experience working in a higher education or similarly large, decentralized environment.
Familiarity with software-defined networking (SDN) concepts and technologies.
Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure) and their connectivity to on-premise networks.
Knowledge of VoIP and video conferencing systems.

The World University of Bangladesh (WUB) is seeking the qualified candidates for the position of Network Engineer for its over expanding demand at Uttara, Sector – 17, Dhaka – 1230.
The Network Engineer is a vital member of the university's Information Technology Services team, responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and security of the campus-wide data network. This role ensures the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of both wired and wireless network services that support students, faculty, staff, and research activities. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who thrives in a dynamic environment and is committed to supporting the technological needs of a diverse academic community.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
1. Network Design, Implementation, and Maintenance:
Design, configure, deploy, and maintain core network infrastructure, including routers, switches (Layer 2/3), wireless controllers, and access points.
Plan and execute network upgrades and expansions to meet growing bandwidth and connectivity demands.
Implement and manage network services such as DNS, DHCP, IPAM (IP Address Management), and QoS.
Perform regular firmware and software updates on network devices.
2. Network Monitoring and Performance Optimization:
Proactively monitor network performance and availability using tools like SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios, or similar.
Analyze network traffic patterns to identify bottlenecks, optimize performance, and ensure adequate capacity planning.
Respond to and resolve network incidents and outages, providing root cause analysis and implementing preventive measures.
3. Security and Compliance:
Implement and enforce network security policies and best practices to protect university data and systems.
Configure and manage firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Cisco ASA/Firepower), VPN concentrators (IPSec/SSL), and NAC (Network Access Control) solutions like Cisco ISE.
Assist in mitigating network security threats and vulnerabilities in collaboration with the Information Security Office.
Ensure network compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., FERPA, HIPAA if applicable for research or medical campuses).
4. Support and Collaboration:
Serve as a Tier 3 escalation point for complex network issues from the IT Help Desk and other IT teams.
Collaborate with systems administrators, application developers, and audio-visual teams to ensure seamless integration of services.
Provide specialized support for high-performance research computing networks (e.g., Science DMZ).
Work with external service providers and vendors for circuit installation and management (e.g., Internet2, commodity ISPs).
5. Documentation and Project Management:
Create and maintain detailed network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, policies, and procedures.
Manage small to medium-sized network projects from conception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
Participate in the development of long-term strategic plans for network architecture.
6. Specialized Academic Environment Duties:
Support unique academic needs, including network segmentation for research labs, IoT devices, and specialized classroom technology.
Facilitate network connectivity for large-scale campus events (e.g., commencement, conferences, sporting events).
Support the residential network (ResNet) for on-campus student housing.
