Job Context:
∎ The Network Administrator is responsible for design and development of network services and technologies to meet client and business unit requirements. Primary objective is to identify optimal networking and communications solutions that deliver long term capabilities, capacity, reliability and resiliency for the business units and clients to successfully maintain and grow their business operations
∎ The Network Administrator plays a critical role in the implementation, documentation and troubleshooting of large networks, for both enterprises and data centers. The candidate should have an extensive knowledge and experience with Cisco, MikroTik networking processes like STP, VLANs, HSRP/VRRP, BFD, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, ARP, NAT, TCP, and UDP. A solid understanding of IPv4/v6 addressing & addressing management is also required. Candidate must have a good understanding of software application/network protocols like HTTP, SSL, FTP, SCP, SMTP, RTSP, SIP, DHCP, and DNS.
∎ The candidate will be developing, documenting, and maintaining all networking systems to include their configurations via command line and graphic user interface in a controlled change management environment. They will also be troubleshooting network performance issues & providing technical support and guidance to users. The candidate will also be recommending upgrades, patches, new applications, and equipment for the network environment following the Cisco and MikroTik design life cycle. Knowledge of Cisco and MikroTik networking & industry best practices, documentation standards. Candidate uses their knowledge of LAN/WAN systems to help install new & existing internal and external networks, tests and evaluates network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ This role involves understanding of the client and business unit requirements, and designing and deploying optimal networking and connectivity solutions that enable clients and business units to achieve their operational and business goals.
∎ Required to prepare recommendations and supporting details for formal proposals for network connectivity and configurations.
∎ Day-to-day interaction with ISP/Telecom providers, equipment suppliers and 3rd party network vendors, to engage their technical resources to perform tasks.
∎ Role sometimes requires scheduling and attendance on overnight maintenance windows.
∎ Resource can expect to routinely be called upon to analyze and interpret traffic and utilization of services on network connections.
∎ Participation in disaster recovery exercises, pre-production certification testing and troubleshooting events is expected.
∎ Accountable for resolving all project level, cross-functional, partnership issues and escalations.
∎ Manage partner/client expectations for data communications connectivity and related services to applications, throughout project(s) lifecycle. Client expectations include functionality, cost, delivery schedule, support readiness and relationships (usually working directly with senior level technical resources, project managers and business decision makers at client).
∎ Ensure timely and accurate delivery of services
∎ Lead the Inventory Management (Hardware, Software, Licensing)
∎ Document internal processes and procedures related to duties and responsibilities
∎ Perform risk management to minimize system and service risks and failures Service administration and Vendor management including the third-party services and applications
