∎ Overall purposes of the role: The MHPSS Counsellor will be responsible for the provision of mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) services to the adolescent and youth (both boys and girls) in targeted camps and host communities. S/he will also be responsible to provide training and supervision of Youth Peer-to-Peer Mentors, provide technical guidance and supervision over MHPSS initiatives in Adolescent & Youth Centres, and provide MHPSS technical support and needed. S/he will work under the supervision of the Project Coordinator and the MHPSS Specialist, S/he will be responsible for writing reports and documentation & sharing of best practices and lessons learned in MHPSS, and GBV.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ The MHPSS Counsellor will be responsible to:

∎ Assess the individual's psychological status by using appropriate tools to detect vulnerable cases and ensure follow-up.
∎ Conducting counseling sessions (individual and group) and art therapy with adolescents and youth to improve their mental health and psychosocial condition.
∎ Conduct activities that improve mental health and well-being and reduce stress, such as relaxation exercises and other recreational activities that promote positive coping mechanisms, etc.
∎ Ensure psychological follow-up of clients on a regular basis.
∎ Refer adolescents and youth to appropriate referral institutions for specialized MHPSS or any other support (if needed)
∎ Conduct service mapping and update on a regular basis for smooth referrals.
∎ Build rapport with adolescents and youth in the communities.
∎ Identify and support the mobilization of community youth into the Youth Peer-to-Peer Mentor program
∎ Facilitate training on peer-to-peer support and other relevant topics for Youth Mentors and provide on-the-job mentorship support to them.
∎ Support and supervise the mobilization of Youth Mentors and their conduct of community outreach sessions or peer-to-peer sessions with other adolescents and youth
∎ Oversee and provide technical guidance to any MHPSS initiatives in Adolescent and Youth Centers
∎ Develop individual case files and care plans for each adolescent and youth, and document client's data accurately in that file.
∎ Monitoring and reviewing progress of interventions related to the project or conducted in Adolescent and Youth Centres.
∎ Ensure all client's data is kept under lock and key and ensure that the MH-related Data is accurately updated on a regular basis.
∎ Liaise closely with the Senior MHPSS Counsellor and Project Coordinator to ensure timely and high-quality implementation of MHPSS activities in the camps, sharing knowledge and information with the Youth Mentors
∎ Ensure proper coordination with the Girl Shine project staff and the GBV team to ensure project integration and to provide support in the implementation of the Girl Shine MHPSS module.
∎ Develop project work plan, need assessment for psychosocial support clients to define action plans and develop therapeutic processes and ensure all work with clients is confidential and that ethical practices are observed.
∎ Provide relevant information on adolescents and youth to ensure the best possible services and maintaining documentation.
∎ Additional Tasks:
∎ Collaborate and coordinate as needed with working groups and similar on Adolescents and Youth and MHPSS and conduct monthly meetings with other community stakeholders in discussing MHPSS and services.
∎ Maintain effective working relationships with all - including community leaders, parents/caregivers, other agencies, and other sectors to improve cooperation and coordination in the camp.
∎ Participate in all relevant meetings in the camps. Work with other organizations aimed at promoting MHPSS support.
∎ Produce timely progress reports, including both quantitative and qualitative.

Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 3 years of previous experience in a similar position or in clinical psychological and psychotherapeutic interventions in emergencies
∎ Sound technical understanding of child protection principles, community-based and rights-based approaches, and trauma-informed care
∎ Experience in providing MHPSS to adolescents and youth is highly preferred
∎ Fluency in the Chittagongian language is highly preferred
∎ Additional training in MHPSS, PFA, counselling skills, evidence-based MHPSS interventions is highly preferred
