Responsibilities & Context:

Job Responsibilities:

1. Management & Daily Operations

• Oversee all daily lab operations and maintain a smooth workflow.

• Monitor the complete cycle: sample collection → testing → report delivery.

• Ensure routine tests are completed accurately and on time.

• Manage and prioritize STAT (emergency) test requests efficiently.

2. Staff Supervision & Leadership

• Supervise lab technicians, phlebotomists, and support staff.

• Prepare duty schedules, shift plans, and manage staff leaves.

• Train and guide staff on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and new techniques.

• Ensure discipline, teamwork, and conduct regular performance evaluations.

3. Quality Assurance (QA) & Compliance

• Maintain strict quality standards (Internal and External QC/QA).

• Ensure proper calibration and validation of all laboratory equipment.

• Follow national healthcare regulations, ISO standards, and safety rules.

• Handle internal and external audits, and implement corrective actions.

4. Reporting & Administration

• Verify, cross-check, and approve lab reports before final delivery.

• Maintain patient records, test logs, and ensure data confidentiality.

• Manage and oversee the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).

• Coordinate effectively with doctors, hospital management, and referral labs.

5. Inventory & Financial Control

• Monitor lab supplies, reagents, and order consumables in a timely manner.

• Ensure proper storage guidelines (especially for temperature-sensitive items).

• Minimize reagent wastage and assist management in controlling lab operational costs.

6. Equipment, Safety & Environment

• Handle equipment maintenance and schedule preventive repairs with vendors.

• Ensure strict infection control, bio-safety, and proper biomedical waste disposal.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free lab environment.

7. Patient Service & Issue Resolution

• Address patient queries and resolve any complaints regarding lab services or reports.

• Ensure a comfortable and hygienic sample collection experience for all patients.

Educational Requirements:

• BSc / MSc in Medical Technology / Microbiology / Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

• 10+ years experience in diagnostic lab

• Strong leadership and management skills
