Experience:
1. Clinical Care and Patient Management
Prioritizing emergencies, review and assess the patient triage of trauma/ emergency cases and manage as per protocol.
Conduct systematic examinations, diagnose conditions, and prescribe appropriate treatments according to established clinical guidelines
Systematically checking measles vaccination status in children aged from 9 months to 5 years old (or 15 years old depending on the context) and from 6 months old during epidemic periods
Measuring the vital parameters of all patients: temperature, heart and respiratory rates, blood pressure etc.
Administer emergency medical treatment including resuscitation, wound care, and stabilization under supervison of medical doctor/ supervisor.
Manage medical emergencies across all clinical departments. Provide post-operative care for trauma/ admitted patients.
Make decision of timely referrals for complex or critical cases, managing patients in a remote setting.
Assist in adult or neonatal resuscitation in high risk condition with doctors
2. Continuation of care for NCD patients:
Assist in screening and triaging patients with NCDs.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.Schedule follow-up appointments and ensure continuity of care.
Support data collection and reporting for NCD indicators.
Educate patients on disease management, lifestyle changes, and medication adherence
Liaise with community health workers for patient follow-up.
Participate in health education and awareness campaigns.
3. Nutritional assessment and management of SAM / MAM patient:
Identify and assess children with SAM/MAM using MUAC, weight-for-height, and clinical signs.
Manage medical complications such as infections, dehydration, hypoglycemia, and hypothermia.
Refer complicated cases to higher-level facilities when necessary.
Specialise in providing medical care for children from birth to early adulthood
Act as an educational and information resource for the medical team with respect to paediatric patients
Focus on nutritional needs of paediatric patients, providing support for IYCF
4. Professional Responsibilities
Act as the primary point of contact for clinical oversight and communication with the Medical Supervisor during weekends and holidays.
Oversee the rational use of medicines and keep in touch about the inventory of medical drugs and supplies, adapting to supply chain limitations.
Provide mentorship and on-the-job training to other clinical staff and beneficiaries. Particularly, Nurse, nurse aids.
Ensure accurate and timely documentation, record-keeping, and data reporting in facility registers and the EMR system.
Actively participate in team meetings and contribute by providing feedback and insights.
Ensure strict adherence to infection prevention, control measures, and patient confidentiality, especially in a camp setting.
Collecting statistical data on a weekly/monthly basis
Pointing out all dysfunctions in the organisation of care to the supervisor or referral doctor
5. Recognising and referring patients with conditions falling beyond his competencies
To the referral doctor for all cases requiring a medical/surgical opinion
To the reference hospital for cases requiring emergency hospitalisation
To the nutrition centre (if one exists) for children presenting signs of severe malnutrition
6. Infection Prevention & Control (IPC)
Follow hand hygiene and PPE protocols.
Safely dispose of medical waste and prepare disinfectants.
