Job Context:
∎ USAID`s Nobo Jatra (NJ)/ New Beginning, a Food for Peace (FFP) Program for 5 years implemented by World Vision Bangladesh (WVB), World Food Programme (WFP) and Winrock International, in partnership with Bangladesh`s Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief (MoDMR) is designed to reduce food insecurity and vulnerability for 856, 116 direct participants in 40 Unions of four Upazilas; Shyamnagar and Kaligonj under Satkhira District and Koyra and Dacope under Khulna District in the southwestern coastal area of Bangladesh.
∎ MCHN Officer will lead upazila level MCHN components.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ The position will implement all activities included in the Maternal Child Health and Nutrition (MCHN) component of the USAID funded, Nobo Jatra Program.
∎ The MCHN officer will be responsible for supervising, supporting, coordinating, guiding and managing the work of the MCHN Private Sector Coordinator, Union MCHN Organizers and community nutrition facilitators.
∎ The MCHN officer will be responsible for overseeing the effective program implementation of MCHN activities.
∎ She/he will provide technical support in implementation of Health and Nutrition intervention at project area.
∎ He/she will be responsible for building capacity of health program organizer and community nutrition facilitator.
∎ He/she will be responsible person at project area to coordinate and negotiate liaison with GoB, UN bodies and NGOs and other service providers.
∎ Implementation of project activities including strengthening and functioning of community group, community support group and union level committees (health & nutrition).
∎ Planning and execution of MCHN, Nobo Jatra interventions in the project area.
∎ Ensure project performance through review and impact evaluation of the project.
∎ Establish and maintain professional relationship with Upazila health & family planning department.
∎ Establish effective working relationship, adequate referral and networking with relevant NGOs, GO and other civil society groups to achieve Nabo Jatra project goal through collaborative efforts.
∎ Capacity building of the Union MCHN Organizers and community nutrition facilitators.
∎ Work closely with internal and external partners to ensure systematic documentation of lesson learned and dissemination of best practices.
∎ Ensure that, Project activities are accomplished as per the program design.
∎ Ensure that, Health and Nutrition Committees (HANC) Committees mobilized and functioning effectively.
∎ Ensure that, Community Nutrition facilitators effectively delivering behavior change programming to the target communities.
∎ Mentoring and supporting Community Nutrition facilitators.
∎ Ensure that, Community Group and community support group are mobilized and functioning effectively.
∎ Ensure that, Identification of capacity gap and capacity improvement plan for project staff
∎ Ensure that, Technical Training /Workshop plan is in place.
∎ Arrange or organize Training/Orientation/Workshop and exposure visit for project staff.
∎ On time Reporting & Documentation with high standard.
∎ Ensure that, Important information and learning shared with relevant colleagues.
∎ Ensure that, Effective working relationships developed with colleagues and program partners (World Food Program and Winrock).
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at least 28 years
∎ An understanding of project implementation.
∎ Extensive knowledge related to maternal and child health and nutrition practice & behavior.
∎ Oral and written communication skills in English and Bengali.
∎ Computer literacy, including the ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
∎ Candidate must have the ability to drive motorbike and own valid driving license.
