Job Context:
∎ ARTICLE19 Bangladesh and South Asia, is a British human rights organization with a specific mandate and focus on the defense and promotion of freedom of expression (FoE) and freedom of information worldwide and having its South Asia Regional Office based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. ARTICLE19 Bangladesh and South Asia is seeking for a Consultant to design and develop online training modules, virtual training workbooks and a practical virtual training plan for journalists and social media communicators, especially for women journalists and communicators at the grass root level. These tools will be used to build their capacities through training and provide them knowledge on the ongoing pandemic situation and afterward.
∎ This will be a part of the project titled "Securing Safeguard for Media Workers in Bangladesh" being implemented by ARTICLE 19 Bangladesh and South Asia and funded by the Royal Danish Embassy in Bangladesh. The overarching goal of this project is to fight impunity on crime against journalists in Bangladesh through providing journalists, and other social communicators with the tools and support to protect themselves, so they can perform their important role in democracy by defending
∎ Freedom of Expression (FoE) and Rights to Information (RTI).
∎ Job Location: Consultant doesn`t not attend office on a regular basis other than urgent meetings and deadlines. Regular communication with Project Focal is must to provide assignment upgrades.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Purpose of the Consultancy:
∎ The objective of this consultancy is to develop online-training materials. Given the context of a pandemic crisis situation and based on the findings of an assessment study, the Consultant will design and develop training modules, downloadable Virtual Training Workbooks that will accompany the virtual training course which participants can follow along with what is being said and shown online.
∎ The training modules and workbooks will be of such kind that five creative video contents can be developed based upon them.
∎ The Consultant will also develop a practical Virtual Training Plan that will help trainers to lead effective online training sessions that will create Excitement, Motivation, Attention and Retention among the participants.
∎ Scope of Work/Specific tasks/responsibilities:
∎ The individual Consultant will consider the following issues:
∎ a. Understand the current overall situation of the Bangladeshi media industry in light of the Covid-19 pandemic;
∎ b. Identify the shortcomings in the professional skills and training of journalists and social media communicators (SMC), especially of women and those are at the grass root level, in response to the current pandemic crisis situation.
∎ c. Select the issues/topics that are timely as well as challenging for journalists and SMCs in terms of professional skills and livelihood, and on which necessary training can be provided online.d. Consider and localize training materials such as manuals, modules etc. that are currently suggested for journalists and SMCs internationally.
∎ e. Develop training modules in the way that they can be creatively converted into video content.
∎ f. Coordinate with the videographer and the video editor while developing modules and workbooks.
∎ g. Consider innovative, interesting as well as useful online training methodologies in order to incorporate the best method into the virtual training plan.
∎ Deliverables:
∎ The Consultant will be expected to:
∎ Submit a comprehensive and detailed work plan for the consultancy period.
∎ In consultation with the videographer and video editor, develop and submit 5 training modules and 5 virtual workbooks as per the scope of work mentioned above.
∎ Conduct 5 ToT (training of trainers) as well as design and submit the draft of the virtual training plan following the outcome of the ToTs.
∎ Revise and refine the content of the draft materials after receiving feedback from ARTICLE 19 management.
∎ Deliver the 5 final training modules, 5 final virtual workbooks and the final virtual training plan accordingly

Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 5 years' experience in the design and implementation of training materials with a focus on journalistic activities and research, and on women's empowerment;
∎ Previous experience of delivering or developing ToT (training of trainers) curriculum;
∎ Having a comprehensive idea about the Bangladeshi media system including its socio-economic aspects;
∎ Excellent Bangla and English writing skills
∎ Must be a team player with ability to coordinate and prioritize the needs of the team.
∎ Deliverables:
∎ The Consultant will be expected to:
∎ Submit a comprehensive and detailed work plan for the consultancy period.
∎ In consultation with the videographer and video editor, develop and submit 5 training
∎ modules and 5 virtual workbooks as per the scope of work mentioned above.

Salary:
∎ This is not a regular job only a time-bound consultancy. Thus, during thisconsultancy period a fee of maximum BDT 300,000.00 (In word: Taka Three Lac Only) including VAT and Tax will be payable to the Consultant. This consultancy is expected to be completed within 5 weeks. The consultant will be expected to start working immediately, in July 2020 after signing the contract.

∎ expected that the timeline for submission of respective deliverable will be determined based on requirement throughout July and August.
