Responsibilities & Context:

Akij Textile Mills Ltd. is a sister concern of Akij INSAF one of the largest conglomerate in Bangladesh, founded in 1998 by Sk. Akij Uddin. The industry is fully export oriented and known for its various units, Spinning, Yarn Dying, Weaving & Fabric Dyeing and Finishing, more than 5,000 employees. Spinning unit consists of reputed brands of machineries like Reiter, Zinser, Schlaforst-Autocone, Autocore, Uster-Lab. Weaving unit is fully automated with state of the art machineries, like Picanol- Omni Plus 800, Airjet Looms with quick style change, Karl Mayer- High Performance Sizing and Sectional Warpers, Stauble Automatic Drawing- in System, CCI-Automatic Sampling Loom & Yarn Dying unit consists of high class machineries like SSM (Swiss) Soft Winding and Re-Winding machines, Gofront Stalem and Galvanim.

Now, we are seeking a dynamic & energetic person to join us as “ Manager (Welfare & Compliance)”.

1. Coordinate and facilitate Welfare Committee, Participation Committee, Safety Committee, and Anti-Harassment Committee activities as per legal and organizational requirements.

2. Monitor workers’ living conditions, health and hygiene standards, occupational safety measures, and environmental conditions within dormitories and workplace-related welfare areas.

3. Handle employee grievances related to welfare, accommodation, food, transport, medical support, workplace environment, and other welfare concerns, ensuring timely investigation and resolution.

4. Organize awareness programs, counseling sessions, motivational activities, cultural programs, recreational activities, and worker engagement initiatives to improve employee morale and wellbeing.

5. Conduct orientation sessions and welfare awareness training for newly recruited employees regarding company policies, code of conduct, health & hygiene, safety practices, and available welfare facilities.

6. Coordinate with HR, Admin, Compliance, Medical Center, Security, and Production departments to ensure effective implementation of welfare programs and smooth welfare operations.

7. Support management in maintaining a worker-friendly environment and ensuring compliance with local labor laws, buyer codes of conduct, audit requirements, and social compliance standards.

8.Monitor canteen food quality, drinking water facilities, sanitation systems, medical support services, and transportation facilities to ensure proper standards are maintained.

9. Assist in implementing programs related to worker education, health awareness, skill development, productivity improvement, and social wellbeing.

10.Maintain liaison with relevant government authorities, local administration, compliance auditors and external stakeholders regarding welfare-related matters when required.

11. Prepare welfare reports, committee meeting minutes, records, documentation, and regular updates for management review and compliance audits.

12. Supervise welfare staff, dormitory supervisors, and support teams by ensuring proper duty allocation, discipline, performance monitoring, and operational effectiveness.

13. Support worker-management relationship development initiatives and encourage employee participation in welfare-related activities.

14. Assist management in identifying welfare-related risks, recommending corrective actions, and continuously improving welfare systems and employee satisfaction.

15. Ensure implementation of emergency response awareness, health campaigns, and worker wellbeing initiatives as part of organizational sustainability and compliance goals.

16. Develop, implement, and monitor welfare policies and procedures in line with company standards, Bangladesh Labour Law, buyer compliance requirements, and social compliance standards.

17. Act as a bridge between workers and management by maintaining effective communication, building mutual understanding, and promoting harmonious industrial relations.

18. Perform any other welfare-related responsibilities assigned by management from time to time.
