∎ Good Safety Engineering knowledge along with occupational health, exposure to the job risks, national & international OHS standards, OSHA, NEBOSH, and ISO 14001, BNBC etc. Clear knowledge about handling safety issues at organization level. ∎ Leadership, technological, analytical, communication, people management, reporting, team management, authority delegation, Knowledge of regulatory organization. Continuous improvement. Training and mentoring skills. Conducting safety assessment, safety plan and implementation of plan
∎ Functional/Technical competencies, Positive behavioral leads, Professional, setting an appropriate goal & strong driving capacity, decision making and team work.
∎ Minimum 4 years of experience in a Managerial role in Health Safety or Factory/ Massive Engineering work sector. Operational experience in safety management system will be an additional requirement.

Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Lead BRAC wide safety team on occupational health safety environment related issues, prioritize through detailed occupational health safety risk assessments, take preventive measures for avoiding accidents, develop safe procedures, engage team to conduct safety awareness training, practices and drills across the BRAC, Social enterprises & BI.
∎ Explore the new initiatives & innovative preventive solutions based on the site & job wise risks assessment of enterprises factories, major establishments, BRAC major entities and develop control measures along with senior management for the safer, better efficiency.
∎ Lead monitor & engage diverse team (managers/deputy managers, engineer, officer, technicians, etc.) for ensuring BRAC wide safety and best resource utilization effectively. Keep supervisor, senior managers informed about important safety issues.
∎ Ensure building, structural safety and by design safety of the facilities/machines as required, regulatory licenses availability/renewal to ensure in coordination with construction and maintenance department in line with BNBC, RAJUK, FSCD, CDA, KDA, RDA, Pourasava, UP and other relevant regulations
∎ Ensure to develop checklists and team engagements in quality Inspections, safety auditing of building/ establishment/ machine/ operations related electrical safety, fire safety, food safety, hygiene, Chemical safety, MSDS, storage, machine safety, massive engineering work, confined space, work at height, excavation, heavy lifting work, transport safety to ensure the compliances & workplace safety. In coordination with construction and maintenance department at BRAC facilities in line with BNBC, NFPA, other relevant laws thus reducing electrical shock, & other safety related fatal accident and fire incidents.
∎ Study national international best practices, engage team’s strength to find out the best intellectual but frugal technical solutions required in BRAC wide in health safety. Ensure stakeholders to deliver work safely ensuring all necessary safety gears with zero accidents.
∎ Prepare monthly report of the major incident and share the learnings relevant stakeholders/staff along with the action plan for improvement on developing safety culture. Assist in the safety strategic plan development, annual reviews and upgrading of existing safety programs for BRAC wide services.
∎ Develop and implement an effective safety training system for the organization along with an effective safety communication system to create a safety culture across the organization.
∎ Lead the positive changes in safety and engage the relevant programmes, managements & a group of technical staff; distributing job for ensuring the health safety related actions are implementing, as great communicator.
∎ Extend, explore scope to engage BRAC wide initiatives, collaborations, partnership to expedite the add values to the organizational level aligning with BRAC strategies.
∎ Summarize applicable DOE norms and acts related to BRAC operations and keep full compliance to the national environmental legislations regarding all BRAC building and facilities. People related environmental safety will be a key aspect
∎ Job Purpose
∎ Lead to develop & establish the occupational health & safety management system across the BRAC Bangladesh, Social Enterprises, & BRAC International countries for ensuing minimum loss/accident, complying with regulatory requirements for reducing OHS hazards establishing control measures accordingly. Pursue with senior managements to establish health safety culture across the BRAC entities through the people engagements and frugal innovations aligning with the BRAC’s strategy.
∎ Key Responsibilities

∎ SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES
∎ Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
∎ Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
∎ Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
