Responsibilities & Context:
We are seeking a qualified & experienced “Manager” for a Fisheries Development / Aquaculture Project. The position will be responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring, and supervising fisheries and aquaculture activities to ensure sustainable fish production, capacity building, and successful achievement of project objectives.
Responsibilities:
Technical Management
-Lead the planning and implementation of fisheries and aquaculture interventions.
-Develop annual work plans, activity schedules, and technical guidelines for project implementation.
-Provide technical support on fish farming, hatchery management, pond management, cage culture, and fisheries resource management.
-Promote sustainable fisheries and climate-resilient aquaculture practices.
-Introduce improved technologies and best management practices to increase fish productivity.
Project Implementation
-Coordinate fisheries-related project activities in target areas.
-Ensure timely execution of project work plans and achievement of project targets.
-Supervise field staff, fisheries officers, and community facilitators.
-Monitor project progress and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
-Ensure proper utilization of project resources and budgets.
Capacity Building & Coordination
-Design and conduct training programs for farmers, fishers, producer groups, and project staff.
-Develop training materials, manuals, and extension tools.
-Organize demonstrations, workshops, exposure visits, and awareness campaigns.
-Strengthen community organizations and fisheries groups.
-Liaise with government fisheries departments, research institutions, NGOs, private sector actors, and community organizations.
-Coordinate with local authorities to ensure regulatory compliance.
Financial & Administrative Support
-Prepare fisheries activity budgets and expenditure forecasts.
-Monitor budget utilization and ensure cost-effective implementation.
-Support procurement of fisheries equipment, inputs, and services.
