Experience:
Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Textile Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Textile Technology, Apparel Manufacturing or a relevant discipline.
Additional professional training/certification in Garment Washing, Chemical Management or Sustainability will be an advantage.
At least 5 years of experience in a managerial/department-head position in a reputed export-oriented garment washing plant.
Strong experience in woven garment washing, preferably handling large-scale production.
Hands-on experience in Washing R&D, Wet Process, Dry Process, recipe development and bulk production.
Experience working with international buyers and buyer-specific washing standards will be preferred.
Strong knowledge of garment washing processes, chemicals, recipes and troubleshooting.
Sound knowledge of washing machinery, production planning, capacity and process control.
Strong understanding of quality standards, chemical compliance, ETP and environmental sustainability.
Excellent leadership, decision-making, problem-solving and team-management skills.
Strong ability to control cost, wastage, productivity and production efficiency.
Good communication and coordination skills with buyers and cross-functional departments.

Job Context:
We are looking for a highly experienced and result-oriented Head of Washing to lead and oversee the overall washing operations of our 100% export-oriented woven garment manufacturing facility. The incumbent will be responsible for managing the complete washing operation from R&D and development to bulk production, ensuring quality, productivity, cost efficiency, timely delivery and compliance with buyer requirements. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in garment washing, wet & dry processes, washing recipe development, chemical management, quality control, production planning and team leadership, with proven experience in handling international buyers and large-scale washing operations.
Job responsibilities:
Lead and oversee the entire Washing Department, including Washing R&D, Dry Process, Wet Process and Bulk Production.
Develop and implement washing strategies, processes and production plans in line with buyer requirements, approved samples and shipment schedules.
Supervise the complete washing process from development, sample, trial, recipe approval to bulk production.
Ensure consistent washing quality in terms of shade, hand feel, appearance, abrasion, color fastness, dimensional stability and garment performance.
Review and approve washing recipes, process parameters and chemical formulations for different woven garments and washing effects.
Coordinate with Merchandising, Production, IE, Planning, Quality, R&D and Commercial teams to ensure smooth production and timely shipment.
Monitor daily washing production, capacity, productivity, efficiency, rejection, re-wash and on-time delivery (OTD) performance.
Control and optimize the consumption of chemicals, water, steam, electricity and other resources to minimize washing cost and wastage.
Ensure proper implementation of wet and dry process techniques, including enzyme, bleach, stone, acid, tint, pigment, softener and special finishing processes.
Analyze washing defects and customer complaints, identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Ensure proper operation, maintenance and utilization of washing machines and equipment in coordination with the Engineering/Maintenance team.
Ensure compliance with buyer requirements, chemical management standards, environmental requirements, ETP standards and sustainability initiatives.
Monitor and ensure proper implementation of ZDHC, RSL/MRSL and chemical compliance requirements, where applicable.
Lead and develop the washing management team through effective manpower planning, training, performance evaluation and leadership.
Maintain close communication with buyers, washing chemical suppliers and internal stakeholders regarding technical and production-related issues.
Prepare and review daily, weekly and monthly washing MIS/KPI reports, including production, efficiency, quality, chemical consumption and cost.
Drive continuous improvement projects to improve washing quality, productivity, capacity utilization and cost efficiency.
Ensure the washing plant remains prepared for buyer audits, environmental audits, chemical audits and compliance inspections.
Take ownership of departmental targets and provide regular performance updates and improvement plans to Top Management.
Ensure safe working practices and maintain proper 5S, housekeeping and workplace discipline throughout the washing plant.
