Position Summary:
The Head of Mechanical Maintenance will be responsible for overseeing and managing the mechanical maintenance department of a garments manufacturing facility. The role involves ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of all mechanical systems and equipment in the factory. The candidate will lead a team of maintenance engineers and technicians to ensure that all machinery is maintained to the highest standards, minimizing downtime and maximizing production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Leadership:
Develop and implement maintenance strategies to ensure optimal performance of all mechanical equipment in the factory.
Lead, train, and motivate a team of mechanical maintenance engineers and technicians.
Set goals and KPIs for the maintenance team to ensure high levels of productivity and cost-effectiveness.
Provide leadership and guidance on troubleshooting complex mechanical issues.
Develop and manage the mechanical maintenance budget.
Maintenance Management:
Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs for machinery and mechanical systems, including sewing machines, fabric processing equipment, and other mechanical tools.
Ensure that maintenance schedules are strictly adhered to in order to minimize equipment downtime.
Supervise emergency breakdowns and provide quick solutions to mechanical problems during production.
Evaluate and monitor the condition of equipment, perform regular inspections, and arrange for repairs and replacements as needed.
Analyze performance data and identify opportunities for improving mechanical system performance and reliability.
Team Management:
Manage the mechanical maintenance team, including engineers, technicians, and support staff.
Allocate tasks based on team skills, workload, and project priorities.
Conduct performance reviews, provide training, and foster skill development within the team.
Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the team.
Equipment and Spare Parts Management:
Ensure that adequate spare parts are available and effectively managed to minimize downtime.
Maintain proper documentation of spare parts inventory, equipment maintenance records, and work orders.
Liaise with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery and quality of spare parts and equipment.
Health, Safety, and Compliance:
Ensure all mechanical maintenance work complies with factory safety policies and government regulations.
Conduct safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and take corrective actions.
Promote a safe working environment by enforcing strict adherence to health and safety standards.
Reporting and Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, and replacements.
Prepare regular reports for senior management, highlighting key performance indicators (KPIs), maintenance activities, and any major issues.
Use computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to track maintenance activities and manage maintenance schedules.
