  • Strong understanding of mechanical troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair techniques.
  • Proficiency in maintenance management software (CMMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and regulatory requirements in industrial settings


Responsibilities & Context:

Position Summary:

The Head of Mechanical Maintenance will be responsible for overseeing and managing the mechanical maintenance department of a garments manufacturing facility. The role involves ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of all mechanical systems and equipment in the factory. The candidate will lead a team of maintenance engineers and technicians to ensure that all machinery is maintained to the highest standards, minimizing downtime and maximizing production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning & Leadership:

  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies to ensure optimal performance of all mechanical equipment in the factory.

  • Lead, train, and motivate a team of mechanical maintenance engineers and technicians.

  • Set goals and KPIs for the maintenance team to ensure high levels of productivity and cost-effectiveness.

  • Provide leadership and guidance on troubleshooting complex mechanical issues.

  • Develop and manage the mechanical maintenance budget.

Maintenance Management:

  • Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs for machinery and mechanical systems, including sewing machines, fabric processing equipment, and other mechanical tools.

  • Ensure that maintenance schedules are strictly adhered to in order to minimize equipment downtime.

  • Supervise emergency breakdowns and provide quick solutions to mechanical problems during production.

  • Evaluate and monitor the condition of equipment, perform regular inspections, and arrange for repairs and replacements as needed.

  • Analyze performance data and identify opportunities for improving mechanical system performance and reliability.

Team Management:

  • Manage the mechanical maintenance team, including engineers, technicians, and support staff.

  • Allocate tasks based on team skills, workload, and project priorities.

  • Conduct performance reviews, provide training, and foster skill development within the team.

  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the team.

Equipment and Spare Parts Management:

  • Ensure that adequate spare parts are available and effectively managed to minimize downtime.

  • Maintain proper documentation of spare parts inventory, equipment maintenance records, and work orders.

  • Liaise with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery and quality of spare parts and equipment.

Health, Safety, and Compliance:

  • Ensure all mechanical maintenance work complies with factory safety policies and government regulations.

  • Conduct safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and take corrective actions.

  • Promote a safe working environment by enforcing strict adherence to health and safety standards.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, and replacements.

  • Prepare regular reports for senior management, highlighting key performance indicators (KPIs), maintenance activities, and any major issues.

  • Use computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to track maintenance activities and manage maintenance schedules.
