Job Context:
∎ World Vision is seeking a GESI Technical Director for an anticipated five-year project in Bangladesh titled, "Adolescent Health Activity," which is funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). The purpose of the program is to accelerate reductions in adolescent marriage and childbearing by addressing the root causes of these practices at each level of the socio-ecological framework with particular focus on supporting the transition of boys and girls ages 10 to 14. The program`s key objectives include 1) increase the agency of boys and girls to exercise their rights to delay marriage and early childbearing; 2) strengthen social support systems to delay marriage and early childbearing; 3) strengthen essential and equitable services for adolescents and their families; and 4) institutionalize effective solutions.

∎ The GESI Technical Director will design and implement a strategy to ensure that the program effectively reaches and serves the unique needs of the most vulnerable and marginalized populations. This role will work closely with the Chief of Party; Deputy Chief of Party; and the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Director to ensure that the principles of GESI are integrated into all aspects of project design, implementation, and MEL. Additionally, the GESI Director will conduct capacity building and provide expert guidance for program leadership and staff, partners, and key stakeholders. The GESI Technical Director will also manage GESI specialists and coordinate closely with partners to ful?ll the GESI goals of the program.

∎ Recruitment is contingent upon successful award of the project. Bangladeshi national candidates are encouraged to apply. Selection of final applicant is subject to USAID approval. The project is anticipated to begin in fall 2023.

∎ Location of position: Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Provide strategic and technical GESI leadership and direction, planning, designing and modifying and implementing activities to achieve the greatest impact toward project goals and objectives.
∎ Lead the development and dissemination of tools and resources focused on advancing GESI, and guide effective program administration that adequately serves the needs of the most vulnerable and marginalized populations.
∎ Support the design and/or modification of activities and plans to incorporate and monitor the integration of GESI into project activities, budgets, training, monitoring, evaluation, and learning.
∎ Build capacity of project personnel and consortium partners on GESI via developing and facilitating high quality training as well as providing ongoing high-quality technical support and coaching.
∎ Provide expert GESI guidance and technical assistance to achieve sustainable reductions in child marriage and childbearing, ensure project components are technically sound and grounded on GESI analysis, identify learning needs of project staff, and troubleshoot technical issues related to project implementation.
∎ Cultivate and strengthen strategic partnerships and collaborative relationships with all key stakeholders, including government officials, project partners, other implementing agencies, and related institutions.
∎ Contribute to a learning environment for effective program delivery and results, including ensuring program monitoring frameworks and internal/external reporting capture GESI-related impacts.
∎ Supervise and mentor GESI Specialists, including providing prompt feedback and appropriate corrective actions as required.
∎ Work closely with project staff and partners to identify, document, and disseminate GESI promising practices, and support innovation and adaptation of effective approaches for GESI outcomes at scale.
∎ Support project staff by creating and maintaining a work environment that promotes teamwork, trust, mutual respect, and empowers staff to take responsibility.
∎ Engage in other tasks that contribute to meeting gender equality and social inclusion targets and goals.
∎ Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at least 30 years
∎ Both males and females are allowed to apply
∎ At least 6 years' experience working in gender equality, disability, or social inclusion-related roles for programs in Bangladesh/South Asian contexts with similar complexity and scope.
∎ Proven track record of success in designing and implementing GESI strategies for donor-funded, large development projects required. Experience with USAID-funded programs preferred.
∎ Demonstrated experience in addressing the root causes of inequality and exclusion with religious, cultural, political, and social sensitivity.
∎ Experience in leading GESI design/implementation for programs addressing one or more of the program's core technical areas is preferred (e.g., public health, child marriage and early childbearing prevention, child protection, social and behavioral change, adolescent and youth development, systems strengthening, adolescent sexual and reproductive health).
∎ Experience leading organizational GESI Self-Assessments or GESI Audits.
∎ Ability to develop relations with local partners, donors, and other stakeholders to support effective integration of GESI.
∎ Demonstrated innovations and successes in conducting capacity building for program staff, partners, and key stakeholders.
∎ Demonstrated ability to deliver results and meet all donor deliverables.
∎ Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively in diverse teams.
∎ Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical, managerial, or operational challenges and evaluation options based on relevant information, resources, well-rounded experience, and knowledge.
∎ Demonstrated ability to work effectively with government representatives, private sector entities, local community organizations, donors, and other stakeholders.
∎ Excellent communication and presentation skills, including ability to communicate complex technical or policy issues simply and clearly.
∎ Strong English communication skills, both oral and written.
∎ Experience living and working in Bangladesh.
∎ Strong ability to build relationships cross-culturally.
∎ Domestic and international travel, up to 30% of the time.
∎ Language: Fluency in English required and Bangla a plus.
