∎ Gana Unnayan Kendra (GUK) started its journey in 1985 as a community-led non-government Organisation with the aim to establish a poverty-free equitable society. Initially, the organisation launched its programme operation in the northern district Gaibandha, however, gradually expanded scope of work and now covering around 225000 families in 15 districts. Since its inception, GUK has been working with poor and underprivileged people for last 38 years to bring a sustainable improvement in their lives.
Focus areas of GUK are Livelihood and Food Security, Education and Child Protection, Disaster Risk Reduction and Emergency Response, Climate Change Adaptation, Safe Migration, Inclusive Financing, Women Empowerment & Gender-based Violence, Human Rights, Good Governance, Skill Development and Job Placement of Youths, Health, Nutrition and WASH, Disability Inclusive Development, Agriculture and Market Linkage, Research and Policy Influence etc. Different integrated programmes are taken by the organisation to achieve its objectives.
