∎ Project Brief: Biodiversity for Resilient Livelihoods (B4RL) in the Modified Delta of Bangladesh Project funded by The Embassy of Sweden aims to increase social-ecological resilience through integrated climate and biodiversity actions in the selected areas of the modified lower Ganges Delta of Bangladesh covering Shymnagar sub-district of Satkhira, Dacop and Koyra sub-districts of Khulna, Magura sadar and Shalikha sub-district of Magura and Narail sadar sub-district of Narail district. The project will restore, enhance, and protect ecosystems-biodiversity towards building "resilient social-ecological production landscapes." These interventions will address three areas of concern: climate change, disaster, and resilience by demonstrating ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA), ecosystem-based disaster risk reduction (Eco-DRR), and biodiversity-focused livelihoods as viable local adaptations to climate-induced threats. The project is envisaged to sensitize and mobilize a total of 30,000 poor and vulnerable households from local communities in project sites.
∎ Job Statement:
∎ The Field Facilitator is responsible to deliver all the project activities planned to implement at the community and union levels and to some extent at the Upazila level. The key broader responsibilities of the position is to mobilize the community and engage them in activity/scheme design, planning and implementation. S/he will also be responsible for identifying challenges and threats to biodiversity and ecosystems and support the project team in designing interventions accordingly. Capacity building and awareness raising of the communities, especially on CCA, GBV, Biodiversity, Governance, and livelihoods are the key responsibilities of this position. Regular monitoring data collection from field, data entry in systems and accordingly reporting is an integral part of the responsibilities of the Field Facilitator.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Job Responsibilities and Tasks:
∎ A. Programme planning and implementation.
∎ Assist the field team in developing a Detailed Implementation Plan (DIP) for the project.
∎ Prepare monthly and quarterly activity implementation plan for the communities for which s/he will be assigned.
∎ Selection of project villages by using different PRA and other innovative tools viz. resource mapping at Mouza level, identify/map resource systems, census at project villages etc. as per the guideline.
∎ Assess the status of natural resources (wetlands, forests, mangroves, floodplains) and categorize them and identify threats to biodiversity and ecosystems and draw the social boundary of each resource system.
∎ Participatory planning (PAPD) to build consensus among diverse user communities on approaches to building social-ecological resilience
∎ Piloting of priority climate-biodiversity-livelihood actions viz. formation of project implementation committees (PICs) establish Fish/wildlife sanctuaries and guarding support, re-excavation of ponds for household resilience, rehabilitate wetlands etc in one project site
∎ Formation of livelihood groups on CC-smart livelihoods and facilitate training on climate-smart livelihood options and ensure to provide in-kind support to livelihood group members.
∎ Conduct community awareness raising events on CCA, GBV, Biodiversity, Governance
∎ Conduct sessions with communities on co-creating knowledge and co-producing locally led nature-based solutions (NbS)
∎ B. Monitoring, documentation, and learning
∎ Support in assessing climate and non-climate vulnerabilities using the social-ecological vulnerability assessment tools.
∎ Collect hydrometeorological data for project sites.
∎ Conduct fish catch assessment and faunal biodiversity monitoring and support in wildlife monitoring
∎ Assist in process and progress monitoring and documentation (tab-based real-time change monitoring and setup dashboard)
∎ Assist in conducting formative research (Income & livelihood, migration, CC/disaster resilience, hazards, Women Empowerment)
∎ Share the lessons learned from the pilot phase.
∎ Develop union-level plans using the participatory community-led problem-solution matrix.
∎ C. Coordination and networking
∎ Maintain linkage and liaison with different stakeholders (GO/NGO/Private Sector) at the site level.
∎ D. General
∎ Assist the Project/Field Manager as per his/her requirements.
∎ Participate in documentation/Case study/ any others study/research in the field level.
∎ Perform any other task as and when assigned by the programme/management.
Additional Requirements:

∎ At least three-year experience in community mobilization in NRM emphasizing restoration and protection of ecosystems-biodiversity, climate change, disaster risk reduction, and resilience by demonstrating ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA), ecosystem-based disaster risk reduction (Eco-DRR), and biodiversity-focused livelihoods as viable local adaptations to climate-induced threats and implementation.
∎ Skills and Additional Job Requirements:
∎ Having problem-solving and prompt decision making capacity
∎ Good communication, facilitation and motivational skills.
∎ Good hand in writing both narrative and quantitative Reports.
∎ Ability to work under pressure.
∎ Willing to drive motorcycle having valid driving license.
∎ Having non-discriminatory and gender-sensitive perceptions along with safeguarding
∎ To protect children in connection
∎ Understanding local culture and languages is preferable.
∎ Abilities to undertake extensive travel to village/community level.
