Responsibilities & Context:

BRAC is an international development organisation founded in Bangladesh in 1972 that partners globally with over 100 million people living with inequality and poverty to create opportunities to realise their potential.

This position will responsible to ensure support proper handling, segregation and disposal of medical waste in Medical Waste Management (MWM) plant in compliance with safety and health guidelines while supervising volunteers to ensure safe, hygienic and strictly following all IPC protocols in line with safety practices with organizational and health standards.

• Ensure proper management and disposal of all medical waste received at the medical waste plant

• Monitor correct segregation, handling, and processing of medical waste with full safety and security measures

• Ensure safe and functional operation of different medical waste management pits and the incinerator.

• Strictly follow and enforce IPC protocols during all waste management activities

• Maintain proper documentation and records related to waste collection, processing, and disposal

• Prepare and submit regular reports to the concerned authority

• Conduct facility visits to ensure medical waste is properly collected and transported by organizations using vans

• Supervise volunteers working in the medical waste management zone

• Provide IPC and safety training to volunteers and ensure their safety during work

• Accompany visitors during medical waste plant visits and guide them through the plant while ensuring safety and IPC compliance

Safeguarding

• Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.

• Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.

• Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
