Job Responsibilities:
∎ Ensure use of chemicals in dyeing fabrics are either buyer nominated sources or within ZXY hazardous chemical internal limit and ISO chemical standards
∎ Carry out risk assessments during developments and pre-production meetings
∎ Send the risk assessment evaluation report to customer for approval via designated merchants.
∎ Receive fabric swatch card or original cutting from customer via merchandisers
∎ Conduct detailed analysis and evaluation on fabric structure, design analysis and detail knowledge about their backward and forward process like types of yarn, winding, warping, sizing, drawing, denting, weaving, greige fabric inspection, dyeing, finishing, overdye, washing, etc.
∎ Declare its fabrication, construction, weave, weight, color pattern and repeat size, finish type and finished width of the swatch received from buyer
∎ Liaise with lab team and ensure their fabric evaluation is in alignment and update QAM and merchant team
∎ Provide input to BU nominated factories with vertical setup or sourced fabric mills/trading house for fabric development
∎ Follow up Time & Action (TNA) with factory to ensure timely fabric in-house
∎ Analyze order sheet and provide detailed risk analysis with approval.
∎ Go ahead with sampling batch, proto size set (fabrication-wise) with approval
∎ Follow up quality fabric as per standard, shade band lot wise and ensure approval
∎ Ensure Pre-Production (PP) sample fabrication with approval
∎ Monitor the fabric production in factory: yarn in-house, knitting, dyeing and update status to QAM and merchant team
∎ Oversee follow up of inventory, yarn in-house, knitting, dyeing of fabric as per TNA to ensure no delays
∎ Monitor submission batch to lab team for testing composition, GSM, physical/chemical test, hand-feel, appearance, shade, shrinkage etc.: if pass, release for fabric in-house at factory; if fail, send back to mill for rectification
∎ Oversee fabric inspection report and ensure quality fabric/PP match against approved parameters
∎ Ensure fabric is in-housed on time to ensure cutting starts as per Planned Cut Date (PCD) and update quality and merchant team
∎ Provide maximum/minimum fabric cost for Free on Board (FOB) calculation to merchant team
∎ Maintain good liaison with factory technical manager to proactively mitigate production issues
∎ Handle fabric issues and provide solutions and options to ease production
∎ Provide guideline on fabric process and other technical input to stationed QC/QA and factory fabric technical team.
∎ Conduct random inspection of bulk fabric, undertaking quality evaluations of materials and checking the quality of the final product
∎ Oversee bulk fabric inspection within tolerance as per 4-points system, evaluate inspection report and advice solution for all fabric issues
∎ Work with internal QA team and merchandising teams to set up effective tools and evaluation mechanisms
∎ Source fabrics from nominated fabric suppliers or independently source from fabric trading house.
∎ Attend handover and fabric PP meeting at factories before the start of production
∎ Conduct visits to factories to resolve fabric technical issues
Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 8 years relevant work experience as a Fabric Technician/Technologist in buying house/factory
∎ Must have thorough knowledge on fabric technology and testing procedures
∎ Thorough knowledge of different types of fabrics and their properties.
∎ Knowledge of fabric manufacturing techniques
∎ Sound knowledge of garment defects
∎ Knowledge of fabric inspection and grading systems.
∎ Knowledge of BOI rules and regulations.
∎ Knowledge of the different standards used by suppliers and buyers
∎ Basic knowledge of production planning
∎ Knowledge of the bill of materials.
∎ Strong interpersonal skills, ability to interact and build relationships work as a team
∎ Should be well-groomed, smart and energetic
∎ Strong presentation and delivery skills
∎ Strong attention to detail and accuracy, aiming for perfection
∎ Excellent written and verbal communication in English
∎ IT proficiency - advance level skill is a MUST in MS Office package (Especially PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook)
∎ Should be proactive and dynamic, ability to work hard efficiently
∎ Ability to multi task and remain organized, meet deadlines
