Job Responsibilities:
∎ Study and understand about the Activity background and survey objective by reading provided documents
∎ Attend and understand the training/orientation on the questionnaire/data collection tools provided by Activity. Clearly understand the operation of Kobo tool-based questionnaires and RMS (Activity's results management system) operation in the Tab or cellphone.
∎ Conduct field test of data collection tool as prescribed by Activity and report back on the feedback/result of the field test.
∎ Attend any debrief session/ discussion on the field test results of the data collection tools.
∎ Collect and understand the field data collection plan from Activity assigned person.
∎ Completely follow the assigned data collection plan in terms of the number of interviews conducted each day, the location of sample, the method of data collection etc.
∎ Develop and maintain good working relation with the partner enterprise's assigned coordination staff, to ensure smooth data collection from their assisted farmers.
∎ Develop a relationship of trust and safe space during data collection from respondents.
∎ Conduct assigned data collection in the field
∎ Ensure the quality of data collected through agreed methods
∎ Remain open and agree to any improvements that may come into the data collection tools or process in course of time
∎ Enter all the findings in the provided data collection tools in Tab/cellphone (Kobo toolbox, RMS)
∎ Ensure collected data is accurately recorded, check at least twice in the Tab/cellphone before submitting. Call back the respondents for any missing fields.
∎ For any outlier values provided by respondents, cross-check with partner staff before submitting.
∎ Submit assigned number of filled out questionnaires/forms by the end of each day, as per field plan.
∎ Keep continuous communication with the Activity personnel on the number of sent data forms every day, verify and ensure that correct number of forms have been received by the Activity personnel.
∎ Attend in debrief session on collected data and provide answers for any queries by the Activity staff.
∎ Identify and report any challenges faced that could affect the quality of the data.
∎ Stay responsible for project equipment (e.g. tab or mobile) that you may be entrusted with
∎ Comply with HR and Finance rules and procedure of Bangladesh Horticulture Activity
Additional Requirements:
∎ Demonstrated knowledge and ability to conduct interviews for producers, agri enterprises in rural areas, SME or large firm representatives.
∎ Clear knowledge about the agricultural production and marketing system in Bangladesh.
∎ Understand the roles and interactions of the various value chain actors in the agriculture sector.
∎ Similar experience in agri business and/or farmer data collection at field level. USAID project experience is a plus.
∎ Proficiency in entering data both in Bangla and English using KOBO tool or RMS in the Tablets or Smart Phones is a must.
∎ Candidates living in the mentioned districts (Jhenaidah, Faridpur and Jashore) will be given preference, considering the restrictions on mobility during the pandemic situation.
