Job Responsibilities:
∎ Primary responsibilities of the position: The Data and MEL (Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning) Assistant will be primarily responsible for assisting the MEL team in training the technical field personnel, partners, and grantees on proper data collection and to ensure that all data collected directly and through partners and grantees are verified and recorded accurately and opportunely in the data management system. This position will also assist delivery of reporting requirements viz. quarterly and annually by the project.
∎ Specific tasks of the Data and MEL Assistant include:
∎ Ensure the proper data collection in terms of quality and timeliness from the field level, verify and check data prior to sharing regularly with MEL specialist and technical team.
∎ Help develop extensive understanding of the MEL plan and work with the MEL team, Field Director, partner team and others as required to implement the MEL functions at region and site level.
∎ Interpret the MEL requirements to the regional and site teams and regularly checkback on the data being submitted by the partner team members
∎ Assist the implementation of different monitoring tools and be instrumental to build capacity of the site offices in implementing the MEL plan accordingly.
∎ Assist the training of field team on MEL concepts and approach to data collection, input, learning and analysis.
∎ Keep involved with the process of regional and site level Detail Work Plan (DIP) development and implementation at site level to ensure incorporation of MEL plan functions properly.
∎ Provide support to the designing and implementation of MEL baseline and subsequent data collection through close coordination with the filed team.
∎ Assist the development of data quality assurance mechanisms and provide regular support to the filed team to ensure data quality.
∎ Assist the process of data quality assessment, evaluation, and other survey and or studies being performed at the field level and regular sharing of information/update/progress with MEL Specialist and others as appropriate.
∎ Pay regular visit to site offices for troubleshooting of any MEL related issues and ensure the data consistency as reported by the site teams
∎ Regularly update on the field level progresses, challenges and learning in a constructive manner to the MEL team in Dhaka
∎ Assist the process of learning plan development for managing, monitoring, and assessing program impact and dissemination of findings and results with key stakeholders.
∎ Attend events/trainings/meetings/workshops as required to keep updated on activities being performed and share/disseminate MEL actions/feedback to ensure consistent understanding among the team.
∎ Provide accompaniment support to the visits being performed from the Dhaka office and ensure note taking of meetings and events at regional and site level
∎ Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Experience in data and monitoring quality assurance and quality control, including ensuring data integrity and security.
∎ Strong analytical skills, including the ability to compile, interpret and report project data as required.
∎ Competency in quantitative data analysis, with knowledge of software programs such as SPSS and/or Stata is preferable.
∎ Skilled in computer literacy and competency in use of Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as Internet-based applications.
∎ University degree or advanced degree in natural resource management, forestry, conservation, wildlife biology, fisheries, development studies or a relevant discipline.
∎ Minimum of 2 years of experience on monitoring, preferably in NRM projects.
∎ Contextual understanding of the local community (Khulna/Sylhet) and their culture, language, norms will be an added advantage.
∎ Willingness and fitness to conduct extensive field visits is necessary.
∎ Strong interpersonal skills, self-motivated and results-driven, with ability to become a good team member.
∎ Good working knowledge of English (both speaking and writing) is required.
