Job Context:
∎ Chemonics seeks a Short-Term Technical Assistance - SBCC Advisor for the USAID-funded Bangladesh Ecosystems/Protibesh Activity. The USAID Ecosystems/Protibesh Activity (Protibesh) focuses on three result areas including i) Strengthening environmental governance and management; ii) Mitigating biodiversity threats and iii) Advancement of market-based incentives that promote sustainable natural resources management under the Development Objective "Strengthened Resilience to Natural Hazards. The Activity goal of Protibesh is to improve ecosystem conservation in and around targeted key biodiversity areas of Bangladesh such as northeast haor areas and southwest Sundarbans. To enable improved conservation, behaviors detrimental to ecosystem health need to be addressed and/or shifted towards desired behaviors that align with conservation goals. Protibesh has undertaken a thorough analysis of threats and behaviors causing or enabling these threats and is in the process of developing a social behavior change communication (SBCC) strategy to target these behaviors.
∎ Primary responsibilities of the position: The SBCC Advisor will collaborate with the Communications and Advocacy Manager and relevant team members and contractors to guide SBCC strategy development, building on and enhancing the draft SBCC strategy, project workplan and other documents. The SBCC Advisor will advise the team on how to integrate the SBCC strategy into day-to-day implementation of project activities to ensure messaging is integrated and guides all relevant interventions of Protibesh. The SBCC Advisor will also develop messages and advise the team on channels to best broadcast these messages applying the strategy mentioned above.
∎ Timeframe and Level of Effort: The assignment will begin from August 2023 and end on/about end October 2023 with a maximum of 45-days of level of effort.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Specific tasks include but are not limited to:
∎ Evaluate the draft SBCC strategy and help advance it to a final product that informs Protibesh's SBCC activities moving forward.
∎ Collate feedback from Protibesh stakeholders in strategy development including from USAID to refine the strategy.
∎ Guide the team on SBCC strategy implementation including developing concrete actions that will underpin Protibesh's Year 3 workplan.
∎ Craft strategic SBCC messages, including identifying, testing and disseminating messages among various media formats (e.g. press releases, web-site, cables, etc.), and tailoring the strategy to the variety of audiences that is identified in the strategy.
∎ Lead (virtual) trainings/orientations on the SBCC strategy and strategic messages for Dhaka based and field staff of Protibesh.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum 5 years of experience in communications, awareness, and outreach.
∎ Excellent presentation skills.
∎ Experience in Bangla and English text development and communication materials and tools.
∎ High level of fluency in English.
