Job Purpose:

Lead the integration of Gender Equality, Disability & Social Inclusion (GEDSI) across GEnder incluSive Market systems for Improved Nutrition (GESMIN) Project interventions in Jamalpur to ensure women, men, persons with disabilities and other marginalized groups participate equitably and benefit from resilient, inclusive development. Drive gender-transformative programming, disability inclusion, social norm change, safeguarding, Women Economic Empowerment (WEE) in iMSD, capacity strengthening and evidence generation. Equip project teams, partners and stakeholders to deliver inclusive results; capture learning; and produce high-quality reports. Regular communicate and working with World Vision Australia (WVA) team for GEDSI related guidance and requirements. Report to the Project Manager and collaborate with the World Vision National Office.

Key Deliverables:

  • Ensure "Gender Equality" and "Disability Equity and Rights’’ across all project activities .

  • Adapt MenCare/Male Engagement approach with fathers and couples to challenge inequitable and harmful gender norms, and creates long-term changes in the lives of men, women, and children.

  • Integrate WEE Strategy Assessment’s result with project approaches and lead GEDSI Action Plan.

  • Prepare and lead GEDSI focused training and gender-responsive extension and market approaches for staff and partners/stakeholders including public and private sectors ensures that GEDSI approach are appropriately addressed in all project activities.

  • Guide and lead team to develop /collect/document/revised stories, GEDSI good practices, IEC/BCC (Information Education & Communication/ Behavioral Change Communication) materials based on the outcome requirements.

  • Strengthen linkages and collaboration with Partners, OPD, GOs/NGOs/INGOs, and local governmental departments at district and sub district level.

  • Support safeguarding, protection and inclusive programming standards following WVI and DFAT guideline.

  • Monitor the implementation of project activities by collecting specific gender and sex disaggregated data & disability disaggregated data (SADDD) including reporting through regular field visits, interaction with staff, partners and members of the communities.

Key Responsibilities:

Planning and Implementation

  • Implement GEDSI Action plan and approach at district level in coordination with the project team.

  • Prepare annual plans, project plans and budget of cluster/district in consultation with the project team and ensure GEDSI aspect.

  • Apply gender-sensitive best practices to address barriers to female participation and/or marginalized groups and to increase male understanding of the need for women’s opportunities to participate in economic development activities, participate in household decision making and benefit from equitable access to food.

  • Identify and engage women, persons with disabilities, youth and marginalized populations through producer groups, MenCare groups, community institutions and local government structures to ensure inclusive participation.

  • Select vulnerable communities and social groups within priority Community Based Organization (CBOs) jointly with committees such OPD Platform, Self-help groups at different levels at sub district and district, Producer Groups, MenCare Groups and partner organization.

  • Conduct accessibility mapping of project sites, service delivery points and communication channels, and coordinate reasonable accommodation measures to remove barriers for persons with disabilities.

  • Support Disaster management team during emergencies to ensure the compliance and integration of GEDSI issues.

Capacity Building

  • Prepare and lead GEDSI focused training sessions for staff to ensure GEDSI is appropriately addressed in all project activities.

  • Build capacities of project staff, partners and stakeholders on: GEDSI, Gender Transformative Approaches, MenCare Approach, Safeguarding, WEE in iMSD etc.

  • Lead and Conduct training/Workshop for partner organization and Matrix staff.

  • Provide technical assistance and monitoring for gender and nutrition-sensitive agricultural activities and services where and as appropriate.

Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) Programming

  • Lead GEDSI inclusive program implementation of relevant models.

  • Support team to conduct gender, disability and social inclusion analyses with M&E team at household and community levels.

  • Facilitate social norm transformation processes.

  • Support women's leadership and economic empowerment initiatives.

  • Ensure meaningful participation of persons with disabilities and marginalized populations.

  • Collect gender and disability disaggregated data regularly, analyze and use it for developing new activities/proposals and other project related work.

  • Apply the Washington Group Short Set of Questions (or equivalent validated tool) to identify persons with disabilities and ensure their voice, agency and leadership are reflected in programme decisions.

Development of GEDSI Systems and Quality Assurance

  • Lead implementation of GEDSI Action Plan.

  • Conduct quality assurance visits.

  • Support adaptive programming.

  • Document good practices, Case studies and Most Significant Stories.

  • Ensure gender marker compliance.

  • Prepare Internal report and support donor reporting.

  • Ensure disability-inclusion indicators and accessibility standards (e.g., World Vision’s Disability Inclusion Minimum Standards) are embedded in MEAL frameworks and quality assurance checklists.

Networking and Collaboration

  • Facilitate communications among project team and external stakeholders on issues of integrating gender and nutrition sensitive interventions into agriculture development and cooperation.

  • Coordinate with government line agencies, consortium partners and other stakeholders at different level for the effective implementation of government’s policy and plans. Especially proven experience of collaboration with Department of Women Affairs, Department of Social Services, Islamic Foundation, Local Government Institutions, Disability-focused organizations, Youth platforms, Faith leaders, community leaders and elites.

  • Strengthen formal partnership with Disabled People’s Organizations (DPOs) to ensure representation and voice of persons with disabilities in project governance and decision-making forums.
