Job Context:
∎ Employment start: 15th December, 2023
∎ Contract duration: 1 year initially. The contract will be extended based on performance until the end of the project (June 2027).
∎ Place of work: Dhaka, Bangladesh with regular visits to field locations

In addition, the organisation`s sustainable criteria comprise of gender equality and social inclusion, financial capability, environmental responsibility, and good governance.
∎ Swisscontact is inviting applications from development professionals for the position of Coordinator-Pipeline Development for BMMDP Phase II Project. The main objectives of the project are to develop a conducive policy environment for climate-sensitive microinsurance to stimulate climate-sensitive, client-centric, and commercially viable microinsurance products/services; to improve the support service market through enhanced capacity of various support service actors (Public/Private Insurance companies, Technology Solution providers, etc); and to increase mass awareness and understanding of potential beneficiaries among low-income households to encourage demand for climate-resilient microinsurance products. This is mandated by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the second phase envisions fostering inclusive growth in the agriculture and livestock sector in Bangladesh through agriculture and livestock insurance along with risk-reducing embedded extension services. Swisscontact is acting as the Managing Agent (MA) of the project and wants to have a better understanding of the microinsurance market with particular focus on agriculture and livestock and to come up with systemic interventions.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Pipeline Development:
∎ Identify potential projects and initiatives that align with
∎ BMMDP's challenge fund's focus areas and criteria.
∎ Conduct research, networking, and outreach to identify and engage potential applicants and partner organizations.
∎ Evaluate project proposals and conduct initial assessments to determine their suitability for the challenge fund.
∎ Stakeholder Engagement:
∎ Build and maintain relationships with potential applicants, partner organizations, and other stakeholders.
∎ Organize information sessions, workshops, and networking events to engage with the community and promote the challenge fund.
∎ Provide guidance and support to applicants during the application process.
∎ Formalize collaboration with interested partners for implementation of interventions/action research.
∎ Maintain relationship with private and public sector actors from financial/insurance sector.
∎ Proposal Assessment:
∎ Review project proposals submitted to the challenge fund.
∎ Evaluate proposals based on predefined criteria, including feasibility, impact, innovation, and alignment with fund objectives.
∎ Collaborate with relevant experts and evaluators to assess technical aspects of project proposals.
∎ Documentation and Reporting:
∎ Maintain accurate records of all interactions with applicants, including correspondence, meetings, and proposal submissions.
∎ Prepare detailed reports and analyses of the pipeline development activities, including progress updates, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.
∎ Collaboration and Coordination:
∎ Assist Deputy Team Leader for project implementation to achieve qualitative and quantitative outcomes and intended impact.
∎ Collaborate with internal teams, such as program managers, finance, and legal, to ensure seamless coordination throughout the application and selection process.
∎ Coordinate with external partners and experts for technical evaluations and due diligence processes.
∎ Compliance and Due Diligence:
∎ Ensure that all selected projects comply with relevant regulations, policies, and guidelines.
∎ Conduct due diligence checks on potential grantees and partners to assess their credibility and capacity to execute proposed projects.
∎ Ensure that the project delivers all desired targets on time and with quality.
∎ Other Duties and Responsibilities:
∎ Support in preparing project progress report, technical reports, and other reports as per project requirement.
∎ Closely monitor financial press and keep track of market trends, opportunities, risks, and new investment products.
∎ Compile advisory reports and make informed recommendations on new investment opportunities and funds that could enhance or diversify portfolios.
∎ Develop complex financial models and analyze legal documents.
∎ Perform any other duty(s) in line with the roles and responsibilities provided, as/when assigned by the Team Leader/ Deputy Team Leader.

Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 5 years of progressive professional experience in similar role(s) preferably in banking or insurance sectors / corporate sales/ business development/ private sectors /NGOs/INGOs.
∎ Excellent working knowledge of computer applications like MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point).
∎ Excellent analytical, negotiation, decision making and problem-solving skills.
∎ Physical Demands: Field visits play a large part in the incumbent's activities;
∎ as such, it is expected that the incumbent is willing and able to take part in such activities as and when needed and sometimes within short notice.
