Responsibilities & Context:

Job Context:

  • Bangladesh Society for the Change and Advocacy Nexus (B-SCAN) is a rights-based organization working to promote inclusion, accessibility, and equal participation of persons with disabilities in Bangladesh. Established with a strong commitment to social justice, B-SCAN advocates for the removal of physical, social, and policy barriers that limit the full participation of persons with disabilities in society. It is registered under Registered with Joint Stock Companies and Firms Registration No: S-12024 and NGO Bureau Affairs of Bangladesh Registration no. 3428.

  • B-SCAN collaborates with government institutions, development partners, private sector actors, media, and civil society to advance disability rights in line with national laws and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). At the core of its work is the belief that an inclusive Bangladesh is only possible when persons with disabilities are recognized as rights holders and active agents of change.

  • B-SCAN is accepting application for the position of ‘Coordinator’ under a project named ‘Disability Inclusive Civic Engagement (DICE)’ to be implemented with the supported by the Nagorikata -Civic Engagement Fund (CEF). The duration of the project is till 30th June 2028. The selected candidate will initially be hired for a three-month probationary period. Upon successful completion of this period, his/her employment contract will be renewed on an annual basis.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Planning:

  • Lead the formulation and implementation of the project’s strategic plan and annual work plans.

  • Ensure alignment of project objectives with B-SCAN’s mission, donor priorities, and national disability inclusion frameworks.

  • Anticipate risks, propose mitigation strategies, and adapt plans as necessary.

Project Management & Implementation:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring timely delivery of all project activities.

  • Ensure compliance with donor agreements, B-SCAN policies, and statutory regulations.

  • Monitor quality standards and ensure interventions are inclusive and accessible to persons with disabilities.

Financial & Resource Management:

  • Prepare and manage project budgets in coordination with finance teams.

  • Monitor expenditure and ensure cost-effective use of resources.

  • Approve procurement and expenditures as per organizational policy.

Staff Management & Capacity Building:

  • Lead, supervise, and mentor project staff, ensuring clarity of roles and responsibilities.

  • Conduct regular performance reviews and identify professional development needs.

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and results-driven work environment.

Stakeholder Engagement & Partnership Building:

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with government bodies, local NGOs, CBOs, and private sector actors.

  • Represent the project in coordination forums, workshops, and public events.

  • Facilitate advocacy efforts to promote disability-inclusive education, training, and employment.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:

  • Oversee the design and implementation of monitoring and evaluation systems.

  • Ensure timely preparation of progress reports, case studies, and donor updates.

  • Use data and feedback to improve project effectiveness.

Communication & Knowledge Management:

  • Promote the project’s achievements through Print, electronic and social media, publications, and events.

  • Document lessons learned best practices, and innovative approaches.

  • Support the creation of knowledge products for internal and external use.

Safeguarding Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to B-SCAN’s Safeguarding policy, ensuring the safety and well-being of all project participants.

  • Promote a safe and secure environment for all participants and stakeholders of the project.

  • Report any safeguarding concerns promptly and follow the designated reporting procedures.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform delegated activities in response.

  • Perform any other tasks as needed by the program and delegated by the management.
