Job Context:
∎ Arannayk Foundation (AF) is implementing a study on Landscape modeling and land use plan development at a select landscape of CHT under PROGREEN Activity of World Bank.
∎ The objectives of the study are to (a) analyze the institutional and policy framework governing land-use and drivers of forest and ecosystem degradation in Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT), (b) develop a sample land-use management plan for a selected (landscape) area that reflects natural, social and administrative diversities related to land-use in the region through mapping and analysis of the present land-use and land cover (LULC) scenarios and modeling of improved alternative land-use practices for different mosaics through participatory processes and application of modern scientific tools; and (c) disseminate the findings among the local stakeholders and policymakers.
∎ To implement the study Arannayk Foundation has engaged a team of experts based at various locations of the country. AF headquarter is providing administrative support to the team for effective coordination.
∎ To provide communication and outreach support to the team a Communication Specialist Officer will be recruited and based at AF, HQ. He/she will be a part of the team and will report to Executive Director, AF. However, he/she has will have working relations with other key AF staffs and will receive guidance from Senior Program Officer.
∎ Under the guidance of key AF staffs, the Communication Specialist Officer will take part in developing communication strategies, information processing from consultation processes, pictorial documentation of the key consultation events, developing key messages for appropriate audiences and developing contents of communication materials for print, electronic and other social media. He/she will also assist the technical team in preparation of technical documents and presentation (audio-visual) materials, maintain effective communication channel between AF and stakeholders to deliver messages, and posting and updating blogs at AF website.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Under the supervision of ED, the incumbent will be responsible for:
∎ Identification of relevant stakeholder groups who have interests and roles in CHT land use planning and find effective ways and mechanisms to engage them.
∎ Preparation of key messages for effective outreach program planning and implementation regarding Landscape Modeling and Land Use Planning including development of necessary strategies, plans and tools (websites, brochure, social media blogs and info-graphics)
∎ Coordinating engagement with the media and act as a focal person for all media inquiries related to the study.
∎ Assisting key AF staff members in preparing targeted communication and learning materials including packaging of information for sharing lessons and experiences from different work areas with internal and external audiences;
∎ Drafting and implementing the project's communications strategy and work plan.
∎ Coordinating various media and advocacy initiatives to ensure understanding and visibility of the project activities and events
∎ Preparing clippings or records of project-related news, making full use of electronic news and discussion networks
∎ Designing and regularly updating the project website
∎ Developing and maintaining a list of key journalists and other individuals in the prime target groups to ensure wide and targeted distribution of information
∎ Organizing special events related to the project involving various stakeholders
∎ Maintaining photographic documentation of project activities, assisting in video production and editing, and maintain the audio-visual library.
∎ Maintaining the project event calendar
∎ Any other related activities and functions as assigned by Executive Director, AF

∎ Competencies:

∎ Strong coordination, negotiation, networking, lobbying and advocacy skills
∎ Computer literacy
∎ Demonstrates effective written and oral communication skills

Additional Requirements:
∎ Both males and females are allowed to apply
∎ At least 3 years' experience in natural resource management sector is desirable
∎ A minimum of 2 years' experience in developing and/or implementing communication strategies
∎ Familiarity with forestry or NRM issues in the CHT context in is an advantage
∎ Having experience in working with multi-stakeholder processes and engagement
∎ Strong research, writing and editing skills; ability to synthesize information into meaningful messages for various audiences
∎ Demonstrated experience with web-based / journal research and literature reviews
∎ Experience in designing and utilizing multi-media communication tools to reach varied audiences including government institutions, civil society organizations, indigenous peoples, rural communities, private sector and development partners
∎ Familiarity with various design software including photo shop and Illustrator and multi-media applications is an advantage
∎ Highly resourceful and self-motivated
∎ Willingness to undertake regular field visits and interact with different stakeholders, especially primary stakeholders in the CHT
∎ Excellent English drafting and presentation skills
∎ Fluency in the English and Bangla languages
