Job Context:
∎ The Arannayk Foundation (AF) was established in 2003, under a "Debt-for-Nature Swap" agreement signed between the Governments of Bangladesh (GOB) and the United States (US), within the scope of the US Tropical Forest Conservation Act, to promote forest and biodiversity conservation in Bangladesh. Since then, AF had provided financial and technical support to numerous Local NGOs/CSOs, Academic and Research institutions to implement more than a hundred projects and research initiatives to conserve forests and biodiversity and development of alternative livelihoods of the forest dependent communities to reduce the exploitation of natural resources on one hand, and on the other hand, contribute to forest and biodiversity conservation. In Partnership with the Forest Department, the USAID and the World Bank, Arannayk Foundation has been implementing several projects that are promoting co-management for conservation and restoration of forests and biodiversity and facilitating community led, ecosystem-based solutions to climate change adaptations as a specialised organization in the natural resources` landscapes of Bangladesh.
∎ We are headquartered in Dhaka while having field-level operational units stretched up to Chittagong Hill Tracts and Cox`s Bazar to provide capacity building and implementation supports to communities, local organizations and concerned forest department personnel.
∎ Arannayk Foundation has recently onboarded two exploratory projects namely `Market study for wood chips, sawdust, and other wood products including furniture (demand and supply)` and `Identification, assessment and verification of potential OECM (Other Effective Area based Conservation Measures) with in-situ biodiversity conservation importance in Bangladesh` to provide technical assistance to the Bangladesh Forest Department. A countrywide survey will be carried out for both initiatives, with a particular emphasis on the Hill forests, the plainland sal woods, the haor basins, the coastal and mangrove forests, as well as trees outside of forests.
∎ Working in a team and gathering field data in accordance with project requirements is the primary responsibility of the position.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Participate in the training before data collection and get acquainted with survey tools
∎ Working in a team to collect qualitative and quantitative data through FGDs, KIIs, and face-to-face questionnaire surveys encompassing wood-based market value chain actors, community conserved forests and local community people.
∎ Collect field data via Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) system using tablet and GPS machines.
∎ Provide support to the project team in organizing meetings involving local community people and relevant stakeholders.
∎ Undertake any other tasks assigned by the Lead enumerator project coordinator.
∎ Adhere to the AF's code of conduct while executing the duties.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Ability to work in any geographic setting of the country with diverse team members
∎ Competency in computer-assisted surveys, GPS use, household surveys, FGDs, KIIs and face-to-face questionnaire surveys will be an added advantage.
Salary:
∎ Negotiable
∎ Based on skills and experience of the successful candidate and financial provisions of the AF.
