  • Degree in Communications, Political Sciences, Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Information, International Relations or a related field. A Graduate degree (equivalent of a Master’s), 4 years with undergraduate degree (equivalent of a BA/BS).
  • Total experience expected is at least 3 years, out of which at least 2 years in NGOs and INGOs in a Multicultural environment
  • working in media, journalism, advocacy, or communications and development, or in closely related external relations contexts.
  • Very good technical affinity for media contexts including knowledge of a wide range of multimedia, web and digital tools.
  • Outstanding news-writing and editing skills. Social media skills. Excellent Computer Skill is mandatory.
  • Developed understanding of the needs of media and public audiences.
  • Languages: Proficiency in English is required. 
  • Working Days and Hours: Sunday to Thursday, weekly 40 hours


Responsibilities & Context:

ABOUT MEDGLOBAL: MedGlobal is a humanitarian non-governmental organization working to save lives and serve vulnerable communities around the world by providing healthcare and building resilience. Our health services support refugees, displaced persons, and other marginalized communities in crisis-affected and low-resource settings.

POSITION OVERVIEW: We are looking for a Communication Officer who will be responsible for overall communication, documentation and knowledge management related activities of ‘maternity and Referral center, Health post, Training, humanitarian health response and others requirement of the program including content development, report writing, media communication, documentation of program process and learnings.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Communication Officer reports to Country Representative in performance of duties and devotes time as per following broad headings:

Knowledge Management & Communication (75%):

  • Expertise in designing of communication and branding materials for internal and external use

  • Hands on experience in audio-visual production

  • Have substantial experience in a corporate or an I/NGO environment, with knowledge on the branding compliances and promotional strategies of the same.

  • Have proven experience to work as a part of a bigger team with diverse expertise.

  • Excellent understanding of how to use branding tools and techniques to increase the visibility, profile, and reputation of an organization.

  • Expertise in using Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Premiere Pro, InDesign, Adobe After Effects, Final Cut Pro and other relevant software.

  • Skill and experience in photography, videography and web design.

  • Ability to develop creative ideas and transform them into practical reality.

  • Good writing skills particularly in English and Bangla. Develop, write and edit program and communications materials, including press releases, blog posts and social media content

  • Promote communications and marketing materials through appropriate social channels

  • Track analytics and create reports detailing successes and failures of communications campaigns

  • Ensure that all communications and program material align with brand standards

  • Ensure Filed visit and collect valuable data for case study, success history as per requirement of the program and Office and also meet up Headquarter requirements. Proven ability to work with communities and partners to gather testimonies, and information on project activities.

  • Work to always support the image and brand of MedGlobal in Bangladesh and globally, ensuring adherence with MedGlobal policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines and ensure to preserve all the data in the respective drive.

  • Excellent understanding of online based work, meeting, documentation sharing, uploading.

Networking: 15% of time:

  • Work with communications team members to conceptualize and implement communications strategies and campaigns

  • Respond to media inquiries and perform media outreach to achieve brand placement in publications.

  • Develop escalation protocols for managing communication crises, should they arise

  • Attend in-house and represent MedGlobal outside meetings as required.

  • Follow up with headquarter staff after attending meetings.

  • Explore prospective opportunities for partnership with the health sector, UN agencies or others.

Others 10% of time:

  • Contribute in developing and updating organizational documents.

  • Maintain digital media archives including photos and videos.

  • Work in close liaison with the Program Manager (PM) and submit periodical reports.

  • Attend meetings as directed by the CR and PM.

  • Perform any others task according to the Supervisors Instruction.
