Experience:
A postgraduate qualification such as MHA, MPH, MBA, or a relevant degree/diploma in Healthcare/Hospital Management, Operations, or Management will be considered an added advantage.
15–20 years of relevant professional experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership/management role within the healthcare or hospital sector. The candidate should have proven experience in independently leading and managing hospital operations, with overall responsibility for operational performance, service quality, people, and financial sustainability.
Role Profile:
The CEO will provide overall strategic leadership and direction for the establishment and day-to-day operations of the hospital and its related healthcare services. The role will ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centric, and cost-effective healthcare through an engaged and service-oriented team, while maintaining strong operational and financial governance. The CEO will also be responsible for building the hospital’s reputation and positioning it as one of the country’s leading philanthropic healthcare institutions, committed to accessible, ethical and quality healthcare services.
Strategic Management:
Lead the successful establishment and operational readiness of Bangladesh Hopewell Hospitals, coordinating closely with the Hospital Consultant, Strategic Project/Execution Team, and other stakeholders to ensure completion within the approved scope, budget, and timeline.
Provide strategic direction on hospital layout, service configuration, medical technology and equipment, consultant/vendor selection, and other key requirements for successful commissioning of the hospital by getting knowledge from existing hospitals in the country and also abroad where he may be sent for experience in running such not for profit hospitals.
In consultation with the Chairman and Executive Committee, formulate and execute the hospital’s short- and long-term strategy and provide periodic updates on progress, key priorities, and challenges.
Establish an effective organization structure and manpower plan, ensuring timely recruitment of competent professionals and optimum resource utilization in line with operational requirements and healthcare industry best practices.
Provide overall leadership to the hospital and its free clinics, fostering a culture of quality, compassion, professionalism, accountability, and service excellence.
Build Bangladesh Hopewell Hospitals as a trusted and respected philanthropic healthcare institution and lead the future expansion of clinics, medical centers, and healthcare services across the country.
Healthcare Operations, Medical Services & Quality Management:
In furtherance to the over all goal of free and not for profit hospitals the candidate will help strengthen the hospital’s outreach and referral network by developing strategic partnerships and alliances with relevant healthcare institutions and service providers.
Benchmark leading kidney, cardiac, and other specialized healthcare institutions in Bangladesh and abroad to adopt relevant best practices in patient care, operations, and service quality.
Ensure compliance with applicable healthcare standards and secure required regulatory approvals, accreditations, and certifications, including their timely renewal and continued compliance.
Finance, budgeting, cost and compliance:
Ensure effective budgeting, financial planning, cost control, financial governance, and audit compliance to maintain the hospital’s long-term financial sustainability. Ensure compliance with applicable tax, VAT, and regulatory requirements, and coordinate with NBR and other relevant government authorities to secure and maintain applicable exemptions and benefits available to the hospital as a philanthropic/non-profit healthcare institution.
Donor, sponsor and partnership management:
Develop and maintain strong relationships with local and international donors, sponsors, development partners, and philanthropic organizations to mobilize funding and support the hospital’s objective of providing free or subsidized healthcare services.
Envisage donation planning from local and overseas by having web sites planned for donation to be obtained on line.
To coordinate with Govt agencies to obtain permission for obtaining donations from abroad like setting up NGO for such foreign donations.
Represent Bangladesh Hopewell Hospitals with government agencies, healthcare institutions, professional bodies, donors, and other key stakeholders to strengthen strategic partnerships and institutional credibility.
Ensure transparent and timely reporting to donors and partners on fund utilization, outcomes, and impact, strengthening accountability, trust, and opportunities for future funding.
Stakeholder & Regulatory Coordination:
Maintain effective liaison with DGHS, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, and other relevant government, professional, and regulatory authorities to ensure required approvals, licensing, compliance, and smooth hospital operations.
Build and maintain effective coordination with relevant regulatory bodies, including BMDC, BNMC, DGDA, BAERA, Department of Environment, and Fire Service & Civil Defense, as applicable to the hospital’s services.
Coordinate closely with Group Strategic Projects and other relevant stakeholders on hospital establishment, expansion, and future healthcare projects.
Leadership, Talent and Culture Development:
Build a strong leadership and talent pipeline by attracting, developing, and retaining competent healthcare professionals and support teams.
Establish a high-performance culture with clear accountability, effective performance management, employee development, and strong engagement.
Foster a culture of patient-centricity, compassion, professionalism, collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement across the hospital and its healthcare entities.
